Poor projections in this mock draft for our two early entrants

I'd draft Grant over Ennis. Ennis is clearly ready to contribute more right away but I really don't see Ennis improving a ton over the course of his career. He is what he is, an average sized with below average speed, below average athleticism, below average shooting, non transition offense oriented point guard who rarely turns the ball over. I'm sorry, I just don't get the love affair by scouts over him.

I agree...I get the decision to leave school, but I don't get the projection at all.

Ennis isn't dropping to the mid 20's. This is the only mock draft that has him in this area. Where are your links to the mocks that have him in the top 10? It must not go with the boards bitter agenda of trying to prove ennis made a bad decision.

Sorry don't mean to come at you it's just getting old seeing all these negative threads about our early entrants. Let's be happy these kids have a chance to make their dreams realized and walk across the stage into the nba.

Yeah, I think 17 for Grant is fantastic. Love him being coached by Brad Stevens.

And if Ennis falls to the Raps, that is a great place for him. Solid organization and great GM.
 
I think Grant would be happy with 17 and I expect him around 16-22.
I think Ennis is way off especially when you look at the guards ahead of him. Miami would signup for that right away. I agree he's hard to place in the draft and could see him anywhere between 10-20

Exactly. Ennis is a good college PG who doesn't turn the ball over. I have yet to hear anyone on this board or scout give me one NBA level skill that Tyler has right now. I'm not hating on him. I just don't see the NBA player others do. My fear is in 3 years Tyler will have what's left of the $1.5 M he pocketed over 3 years and be out of the league playing in Europe. His memories of those 3 years will be of being frustrated over lack of playing time. Instead he could have stayed in school, be coming off a great 4 year run of national accolades in being one of the best PG's in college for 4 years and be looking forward to proving himself in the NBA. At a minimum he would be looking at about the same money that he will make this year. Maybe he'd end up in Europe anyway but that would be better at 25 than at 22. Lost opportunities too often turn into regrets.

Also, I can't believe any NBA team would pick Ennis over either Shabazz Napier or Russ Smith. They are both quicker, more athletic and better shooters. I just don't see it. And as far as supporting players reaching their dreams?? Someone should be blunt and ask them if their dream was to play in the NBA or to be on an NBA team? There is a big difference.

Give me a break--and aim your BS attributions some other way. I posted a link to an article I came across--I didn't realize that the board thought police required me to go out and link to every mock draft that projects things differently as a pre-requisite to posting a new one.

Nobody will be happier than me if these guys get drafted high. I just think that some of the pollyanna crowd ought to recognize that nothing is a sure thing when it comes to the draft--or mock drafts--this early in the process. That doesn't have anything to do with a "bitter agenda of trying to prove ennis made a bad decision." All I did was post a link to an article, for christ sake.
 
For the record I'm fine with both kids leaving.

I think if they were my kids I'd have advised Grant to go, if he didn't develop offensively next year it would hurt his stock so the risk is not worth the reward plus he's from an NBA family that most likely has a good idea where he will be chosen. Ennis I would have probably advised to come back. What makes him valuable isn't going away. He's a steady floor general who limits mistakes and isn't afraid to come up big in big moments. HE could greatly benefit position wise from improving his body, shooting and finishing around the rim while having a minimal chance of slipping much position wise if he doesn't show big improvements.
 
First of all, I refuse to read any P.O.S link-baiting article that relies on a slide show to boost its hits. If SN didn't suck a giant bag of they wouldn't need this kind of trickery to look successful

he will have a long career as a solid back up point guard, and that is not a bad thing. For the right team, he'll be a change of pace guard, too.

And, for those who don't think he has an NBA skill - point guard is a skill. The ability to run an offense with minimal mistakes is important, especially on the second unit where you have a lot of guys who aren't top shot makers. The league is full of savvy points who lack quickness and athleticism, and Ennis is as good or better than half of them right now.
 
Timing when your stock is highest > timing when you're most ready to enter the league in my opinion.

Both are unknowns, but it seems to me that your stock only really rises much across one single season. So if your stock rose, and you passed on it, you might not have anywhere for your stock to go but down.

Nobody is being negative towards them. Everybody is entitled to critique them. Would I bolt from school early to get a chance to fulfill my dream job? Hell YES! I just don't think they are lottery talents right now.

Poor is in the eye of the beholder...

Jerami Grant and 17 is pretty good. he is mainly thought of as 20-25ish.

Ennis, while slipping - gets to play with Lebron? Ennis could start over Chalmers too.

That could be a Rajon Rondo esque slip in the draft but go to a team that makes you an overnight superstar. Rondo may have lost out on a few million to start his career - but he's done just fine.

also imagine if philly gets andrew wiggins and dougie buckets... thats a good team sooner rather than later.

they also have 5 2nd round picks for guys like a cj fair, russ smith, isiah auston, JMM, Kane, nick johnson, Hairston, etc...

Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, Derrick Rose, Rajon Rondo, Damian Lillard, Steph Curry, Goran Dragic, Tony Parker for 48 minutes every single game of the season
