Impressive fundraising effort:

"The school is set to break ground Sept. 12 on the four-story, 144,000-square foot facility that will be built next to McDonough Gym at a cost of $62 million, all from contributions. The building is to include practice courts and men’s and women’s basketball coaches offices as well as meeting facilities for varsity programs."

This donation is the ultimate betrayal.:bang: I hope he goes to an SU game so I can boo him for this.

Not too surprising, as their fundraising staff is enormous and they have a large amount of very wealthy alumni,.

He has given over $20 million dollars to SU.

Who cares about a $3.3M donation that he's sharing with Patrick Ewing?

well, you would be wrong. The $$$ is going to the power 5. It will wear down the non power 5. We don't need a conference rival within 3 hrs of Balt/Wash or d.c. We are a national program.

I disagree on both counts. Not having any sort of meaningful conference rival outside of BC even remotely close to the NE is not a good long-term plan. The fact that everyone wants UConn and G'town to dwindle and fade away is proof of just how great those rivals are. That's the whole point.

Not to mention the fact that people get irate that he's 'giving money to g'town' but not irate at all that he's donating huge coin to build a completely frivilous basketball only practice facility. I mean, it's fine with me b/c I like seeing good college hoops but on the scale philanthropy I'm pretty sure those donations are pretty low.

It's hard for me to separate an SU grad helping out Georgetown...I know who he is, and that bothers me even more. Where was he for our basketball facility? Now Georgetown is going to have something comparable to us? Doesn't seem right.

He's an SU grade who also received a law degree from Georgetown.

So, to sum up:
- he has donated about 20x as much money to SU
- he started/financed the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics
- he paid for the David B. Falk Distinguished Professor of Sport Management
- he paid for the The David B. Falk Center for Sports Management

holy crap. what a dick. you're right. it just isn't right that he and Patrick Ewing made a combined donation of $3.3M.

Actually, his J.D. is from George Washington, not Georgetown.

whoops. you're absolutely right.
well, i still hope that people don't question the guy's loyalty over this donation to Georgetown.

point 1 is the same as points 2-4...

and he went to law school at GW.

I responded to my mistake in the post right above yours.
And I felt it was worth noting that he didn't just give money to the school - he started a new academic program and endowed a professor's position.
