Class of 2015 C/PF Thomas Bryant (NY) Verballed to Indiana

Ask his Mama.

Hopefully the "recent" allegations dont cool her off.

Not to be captain bringdown, but I offer a sincere and hopefully an interesting question. We all know human beings(especially mothers) can be odd at times. Is it possible she also cheered for any of the other teams her son was watching play? Again, I like to keep my optimism a bit guarded and I don't follow the recruiting as closely as some, so I am asking this genuinely.

Francis, I have another question to ask genuinely(meaning I'm not asking thinking that I know the answer in advance). In your experience, does the order of the schools a recruit visits tend to have any indication at all on where they ultimately land? Of course I'm hoping TB already is leaning heavily towards the 'Cuse and is just biding his time before announcing publicly. At least he isn't looking stone-faced like Nerlens Noel did at the UConn game, right? Following this thread to me feels almost like watching a tournament game, maybe the title game.

don't have the expertise of my good man Francis but I have followed bball recruiting very closely for as long as I can remember. Every recruit is different to some it might mean something but I think in general the order of a visit means nothing. Also I am sure Bryant's mother is quite aware of the allegations and that might be one reason why he is waiting till the spring to announce. Barring any type of scholarship reduction I am pretty confident Bryant will pick SU. Just my gut feeling on his situation no inside knowledge that he will commit.

A buddy of mine back in the day used to say when it came to the order of visits that most coaches felt the 1st and the last visit were the schools that the player was favoring heading into things. At this point following recruiting for so long, I don't think the order of visits means anything but I'm sure most of these players do favor a school before heading into their list of visits, which is obviously a very natural thing. I think TB has always been a strong Cuse lean, but has always expressed for a long time that he wanted to get out and enjoy the process. If I was in his position I would do the same thing because you get to go through the process once. I think he wants to be patient and see how things will clear up with SU as far as the scholly situation, plus the current NCAA thing isn't helping matters but hopefully we'll find out soon what the end result of that is. Also I do think he's open minded to other schools with Mizzou being the main one, due to his close relationship with his former Prep coach now Mizzou Assistant Rob Fulford. Biggest thing is that Mama Bryant wants her son back home and that definitely works in our favor. Especially since she doesn't seem to be too much of a Mizzou fan haha.

Thanks, i feel good hearing this from you. I've really been hoping this is the mystery player JB was talking about, because he feels like that final piece that will put us over the top, regardless of where his rankings are at any given time. Like in Glengarry Glen Ross, or John Rocker, or something, I just am fiending for a "closer", although I realize we're likely going to have to be very patient.

Class of 2015 Huntington Prep (W.V.) big man Thomas Bryant is expected to attend Hoosier Hysteria, sources tell Inside the Hall. #iubb

The last week of Syracuse Basketball has hurt my heart a little bit.
That's a bit of a concern. SU's troubles could possibly open the door for IU, especially if Mom signs off on it unlike Mizzou.

Our buddy Jerry mentioned a bunch of his friends from Huntington were going also, seems like Bryant wants to be with his boys for the weekend and treated like a king...cant be mad at that

Not Francis, but I've been following recruiting closely for 20 years. The order of visits does make a difference. Usually a recruit signs with either the first or last place he visits.

Haven't posted in a while, but I lurk and read alot of tweets on recruits still. Anyways, Bryant is NOT attending hoosier hysteria now. Did not make the trip because hes sick...or he just realized that Indiana and their fans are corny as hell. I dont think it matters...as long as we dont lose a scholly, he's coming here.

Thank you gentlemen! This kid has caught my attention in a way that few do(maybe more for the overall picture than just he himself), and your posts have brightened my day! I appreciate your efforts and didn't mean to make it seem like i was singling out Francis as the only contributor(although he is a 5 star guy!). As I've mentioned before, to me watching these threads in the offseason is like watching a game for me, and Bryant just has that feel of the missing link. It sure would feel nice having Duke and UNC fans tremble when they see our date on the schedule.

I'm sure this one's posted already (edit: king Francis was all over this one), but right from the start. Just a killer instinct. Starts off his career at Huntington Prep attacking the basket. It's almost as if he doesn't care that the defender is in front of him. Just a temporary obstacle.

Poor number 54, he never stood a chance.

I see three possible scenarios in order of likelihood - 1) McCullough leaves after this year. The coaching staff has thrown out some pretty high praise 2) Patterson leaves. I think he could help us but don't see where he gets minutes this year or years after that really. 3) Coleman can't recover physically. I think this is unlikely and I would guess Cuse would still honor his scholarship through graduation. Any that I'm missing?
If DC is unable to continue in basketball the university will move hime into a different fund to make sure that he has funding through graduation. He would no longer being using a basketball schollorship; it's the same thing that happens when a football player sustains too many concussions and is unable to play any more.

Quick question for you or anyone else. After reading this, I believe I read this would have been his 2nd weekend in a row attending IU. Was that correct, and if so, would that have been a bad sign for us?

Whats up w this tweet by Syracuse Basketball (@syracusebball):

Even thought Bryant's visit was cancelled this weekend, Indiana has to feel good about where they stand. Syracuse not so much the favorite.

I thought we were the favorite for TB? If he wasnt the player JB was referring to, who was?

I love big men who want to dunk everything around the basket. Its all about attitude and Bryant has plenty of that!

+1. I'd love to see a big guy in Orange throwing down monster dunks and making big blocks followed by that emphatic scream of his! I've been longing for this sort of player who loves to be around the rim for a long time, and I don't believe I'm alone here. Thanks to all who have given us information and videos in this thread, and please keep it coming. I want to see that kind of FIRE in the Cuse!

And then this tweet:

@ryannemcek @JN_in_ILM It's my opinion. Visited IU, wanted to visit following weekend. The scholarship issue at SU could hurt them.

he was but the NCAA investigation and possible scholarship losses would impact his decision. Without the threat of sanctions there was little doubt he would come here but until SU knows their fate he is keeping his options open.

Then in my mind we are still the favorite! ......innocent til proven guilty....
