Roberson

Any treatment he receives from Boeheim is deserved. He has a world of potential but plays like a scared little kid. Unless he fixes his head and decides to be assertive, what we see now is who he is always going to be.

Silent G needs to replace him.

Roberson needs to relax and be confident in what he is able to do. He looks shook.

I think Joseph has a similar problem. Everyone is still talking about Ennis and he looks like hes trying to play the way Ennis did. Not sure he knows how to play that way. Cal was almost begging him to shoot or attack the way they were hedging on screens and he consistently tried to give the ball up. We are going to need him to score or be a threat to score to be competitive.

Liked what I saw from Gbinije and McCullough.

Did anyone see him dribble at the top of the key last night?

He honestly looked like this kid:

Needless to say, he doesnt look ready right now.

He looked better last year. The treatment he got last year screwed him up. He's not nearly as good as he looked in high school. And before people say that's high school, he played in the private school league in NJ, and he got POY in that state.

This.

He's regressed on defense and looks terrified on offense, makes an unconvincing shot fake as if it's a nervous tic.

Boeheim crushed him.

Not sure its because JB crushed him, its not like he hasnt gotten a lot of run to start the season, he just doesnt appear to be that good at least right now.

Eh, he got a quick hook in those early games. I can't know for sure, but it doesn't look like he's reacted well and he's developed some bad habits that weren't there last year.

Would be nice to see him look for the shot when he gets an open look. That one drive in the first half was much better, but he missed the layup with the inside hand and didn't try anything like that again.

And he's so lost on defense, which is compounded by McCullough's being more lost on defense, which is really compounded by Christmas's tendency to pick up 3 fouls that he didn't commit.

Or maybe he's just not very good.
Roberson has a very long way to go to reach his potential. Really looks lost out there right now. Hopefully his learning curve is quick.
Maybe his potential isn't as high as what it was assumed. Have to give him this season but if it doesn't happen this year...few guys blossom as juniors. By then there can be modest improvement but you are what you are.

This sentence right here pretty much outlines the defensive issues right now. It would be comical if it wasn't so :(

He has no offensive identity. Is he a post player or a slasher or a mid range jump shooter? I don't think he knows and when he gets the ball you can see he has no idea what his next step is. I'd like to see him just focus on the mid range game and find the open area and hit some 10-15 footers. Once he hits a few then he can use the pump fake to get to them hoop. Set up the defender a bit.

He's an undersized 4 playing out of position at 3.

If a kid cannot handle tough love from JB and getting pulled when he plays poorly how is he going to handle the ACC season? At some point you have to get tough minded. I don't hold to the thought that a coach can completely crush a kids confidence unless it was already too brittle to have flourished. If you have to baby a kid along perhaps their metal toughness simply isn't ready.

I like the kid and think he is much better than he has shown. Certainly he is not going to be a carry the load kind of guy this year but I think he could be a good secondary/complimentary offensive player with his skills and the defense not keying on him if he gets it together.

And that means what exactly? Still has to develop some kind identity offensively to help the team. Pump faking every time you touch the ball and almost traveling isn't doing anyone any good. Undersized or playing out of position or not he still has to find a way to maximize his skill set by getting the ball in a position where he is comfortable and succeed. He hasn't shown the ability to beat the bigger guys off the bounce or score against the smaller guy down low. That leaves mid range jump shooter to me.

It means exactly what I said. He doesn't have a small forward's game, and that's the position he's being forced to play this year. He doesn't seem comfortable putting the ball on the floor, which limits his ability to drive past defenders. He's mechanical offensively. He's got a nice stroke on his jump shot, but isn't confident enough to make them consistently yet. He isn't a passer. And he isn't demonstrating any willingness to play in the post.

So you agree with me then, he has no identity...thanks

Why are you being so argumentative? My post above to you was an obersvation, not refuting your point.

Try to take the edge off...thanks.

He's an Eagles fan just try to imagine what that must be like . . . . . . . .

Its an NFC east thing. I'm a Giants fan and the Eagles are the only team in the division without a super bowl win while all the others have multiples.

I think he's ready to breakout. He's still like a young colt that hasn't found its legs. He's taking longer than we expected but I still think his game will be worth the wait. For what we need from the 3 right now I prefer those minutes go to BJ or G. Let him be the 3rd man in the PF/C rotation, he'll still get plenty of minutes.

It's true, just never could get it done. Having James thrash and Todd Pinkston for most of that run didn't help offensively. The defense was always strong and Mcnabb made enough plays to win games. Wish they could have put a little more around him offensively. I couldn't stand eagles fans anymore and that's why I don't really care anymore. All they did was bash Mcnabb all those years and he gave them some great seasons.
