Won't belabor the point, there were some fun discussions on this...I'd made several points at the time:

1) Vereen's "late report" on one of the plays was strategic and should have resulted in a penalty

2) The Referees messed up, should have stopped the play (so essentially the Patriots taking advantage of the referees' capacity for recognition on the fly -- which the rules are in place to prevent)

3) I maintained that the order of plays we were all being told happened was not correct and that the switching of players on successive plays was illegal (I subsequently thought I was wrong on this, probably am)

4) I thought they would address (i.e. change or ban) in the offseason and they did.

It's an admission that the drive in question should not have been allowed to happen.

It is an admission that the drive should have been allowed to happen in 2014. I agree there was one key instance with a lineman changing eligibility on consecutive okays throughout the game but to create a rule acknowledges that the move was legal in 2014. Regardless of any infractions it was on the referees to recognize the issue and address it.

Certain plays on the drive should have been flagged...so I don't quite agree.

In any case, another sign that the Kraft/Goodell stranglehold is unraveling, and that's a good thing.

Yes, to make sure no one can do what the Patriots did in the game...run an eligible number out to the side, casually mention he's ineligible without going back to the huddle, bang you in the lineup and the D doesn't know who's going out. Yes, they changed the play so this type of penalty will be enforced next time, and if it isn't, the players will all be on the line and the situation is more manageable

Can't wait to see what Bill does next year to make everyone cry. It will be fun to watch

there is no kraft/ Goodell stranglehold and there never was. Just a lot of sore losers. My Giants beat them twice. When the Dolphins smoked the Pats using the wildcat, the Pats didn't whine about it.

Here’s how many times each team has won each division and SB titles since the divisions were realigned in 2002. I think BB is fine with the rule change.

Steelers 6 2 SB titles
Ravens 4 2 SB titles
Bengals 3
Browns 0

AFC South
Colts 9 1 SB title
Titans 2

AFC West
Chargers 5
Broncos 5
Chiefs 2
Raiders 1

Eagles 6
Giants 3 2 SB titles
Cowboys 3
Washington 1

NFC North

How many of those teams have been caught taping walk throughs and deflating footballs?

Pats never taped a walk through. That story was recanted a long time ago.

"The Patriots don't cheat" goes in the same bin as "Cal doesn't break NCAA rules"

I just don't get how a rule change that clearly acknowledges that they played within the rules last year makes them cheaters. I get the history but some people are just so caught up in the hate.

The only thing found about deflated footballs so far is the equipment manager was caught on video taking them to sell.

It wasn't the equipment manager actually, it was an NFL official. Absolutely zero connection to the Pats on that story, other than the NFL official took a ball out of play and tried to replace it by handing it to the equipment manager.
