Is it all about the number? Retired at Syracuse but available elsewhere. C'mon Shafer give him the 44.

Yep. I'm guessing Axe is trying to do a "counterpoint" to Bailey's article, which should be coming out shortly. Basically, trying to drive up discussion and therefore hits.

His points and counterpoints recently have been pretty pointless.

Hate to contradict myself here but I keep thinking about one of the posts pointing out his statement that he wants to go to a christian school. Doesn't help that I see TCU being the biggest threat. Argh is it the 25th yet?

I tweeted at Axe that Glenn Moore didn't seem to tarnish in anyway the legend created by Jim, Ernie and Floyd. Sometimes you swing and miss. We can't get a hit though unless 44 is back in play.

The guys that wore the number between Jim, Ernie and Floyd apparently didn't tarnish it either because most of the people that even post here can't name them off hand. It's such a dumb argument.

Athens only way to tarnish 44 IMO is to give it to a kid with terrible character who goes on to go full Aaron Hernandez while at SU while wearing 44.

Other than that, 44 can always recover. Putting it back on the field helps us. Put another way, in no way does having 44 on the field hinder us as a football team. I see no reason not to bring it back.

Sorry I have family that lives in South Lake, TX... just one big metroplex.
And I live in North Texas, just north of Dallas. So again...point? I don't get why you're feeling the need to inject what basically amounts to buzzkill attitude for people looking to be positive.

It's obnoxious.

Allowed: "I think RW will be the most explosive pass catching back we have had here in a generation" "No, you have it all wrong, RW will be the best North South runner we have had in a generation!"

Not Allowed: "Boy I really see some signs that we are going to land this unbelieveable young man/athelete" "No way, there are numerous reasons/signs that we would never come here"

At least those are the kind of disagreements I prefer.

Why are people surprised that their "opinions" aren't respected when they post over the top negative stuff that doesn't do anyone any good?

Six finalists = 16% chance
Recent results in similar recruitments (past ten years) show even less success rate

So why is it blasphemous for one to put 'negative' opinion out there?

We have all heard about how we were the leader for top kids in the past five years, only to end up a brides maid time after time on decision day.

There has been an increase in quality and quantity depth, all I am saying is recent history does not favor us

I really don't know why you'd have a glass half empty attitude. I'll admit we took some long shots at some guys who took a sniff at us, but in the end, we just didn't have enough to get them. I also have to say that we've beat out a bunch of the big boys the last few years, especially just before signing day (holding them). I would also say that we've become a contender in many of the battles for solid guys, and won, getting a bunch of good ones!

There's more to this than stars. Do they have the drive to work to be better than they were in high school? We've had some so called studs on the roster that have never panned out. I'll take a kid that may be under developed / radar, but has the drive to become bigger, stronger and better, than the pampered kid who had early talent and never developed a work ethic.

When we have a solid chance at a young man with character, talent, strong family values, a work ethic, and a respect for our history, why not be optimistic? We're in the game and recent history has proved we've done well.

Because someone close to the recruit posts here.

In honor of JJ Abrams changing up Star Wars (and the new trailer being released) - I'm gonna change up a line that I think jekelish will agree with me on...

"I've got a GOOD feeling about this"
See? I like that kind of positive thinking. And so does Han Solo.
