Still 15, 20 minutes to go, but, so far, one of the greatest Letterman shows I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot. This ain't no "Seinfeld." Great opening, great monologue, classic Top 10, great clips just the right amount, show's totally light upbeat, nothing maudlin, at least not yet. Man, that was a fast 33 years. Leave 'em laughing', Dave.

I love the fact that I just found an article on Salon complaining about how white Dave's last week has been. Ignoring that he's had appearances from, oh, Oprah, Chris Rock, and Barack Obama. And the same article complained that his final musical choice was the white band, Foo Fighters. Never mind the fact that Foo Fighters is Dave's favorite band, and holds a very special place in his heart (very intentional pun based on what they did for him after his heart surgery).

I'm about as liberal as they come, but holy s*** that was the dumbest article I've ever read, trying to stir a pot that doesn't exist.

Anyway, rant over. That was a phenomenal show. And while I haven't checked out what was going on with some of the other shows, I'm watching Conan now and man, it was amazing. Conan opened the show with a great story about how Dave saved his career, and then when Patton Oswalt came out as the first guest, he and Conan basically spent the entire interview gushing over how amazing Dave is and, at the 35 minute mark of the show, told people to turn the channel to watch Dave instead.

Just perfect.

I used to watch the show all the time but then the internet came along and I stopped - probably the first show I saw in 15 years. It was good to see all the familiar faces again.

Great final. Loved the top 10 and the takes with the kids. Was a bit disappointed with his monologue.

Was completely relaxed with the kids. Basically treated them as equals- which I think they liked.

It makes me sad that in my teen years Letterman and Saturday Night Live were so significant to me. Now, I could not care less about either and have not in a long time. I do love Letterman for all the laughs he delivered to me years ago. I wish him well.

My wife still watches SNL. I try, but the show is awful. Makes me think less of her when she watches it. Although Louis CK was funny in his monologue this past week. Seemed like he was trying to make sure he wouldn't be asked back.

Very funny. Oh, how irreverent and funny. Oh my lord.

RICKLES!!!!! He and Howard Stern were great guests as well. Don Rickles is by far my favorite comedian of all time.

The guy did it right. Full of smart and sharp humor. At one point in the finale I swear I saw a billboard that had a pic of Dave with the caption "now number 3 in late night!" I laughed my arse off.
