Great show. Two different musical styles, but they are both great musicians and showmen (Shorty's a bit more of a showman I guess). Really fun time. I recommend seeing them if you have the chance.

My son's band opened for Shorty several years ago at a charity event in Wilmington, DE (right after Backatown was released). At the time I had never even heard of him, and was totally blown away. After his performance I got to meet him when he came out an mingled with the crowd. He seemed like a really sincere, humble guy. We also saw him 2 years ago at the Bottle & Cork in Dewey Beach. It's a small venue and we were no more than 20 ft from the stage. Tonight he's scheduled nearby at the Freeman Stage, but we have a conflict.

Joe: What's the name of your son's band? I'm from Delaware, have seen Trombone Shorty, and occasionally book shows at the Arden Gild Hall.

We had 'em at the Shady Grove. Our house is immediately across the driveway from the Fest. They KILLED. They were really great!
Thanks, Steve. I'll let him know.

I got to see Trombone Shorty at the Foo Fighters 20th Anniversary show at RFK on the 4th. I was completely blown away. So much energy from his entire band.

I felt bad for Joan Jett who had to follow them. She came out with Bad Reputation and it just seemed blah.

Gary Clark Jr is my favorite newer artist and he was fantastic as well...didnt disappoint a bit.

I caught Shorty at Jazz Fest in Syracuse last summer. Phenomenal. I like his music, but his band's live performance is another thing altogether.
