Apologies to rrlbees for stealing his thread title. But, as he, I just got done saying farewell to one of my kids. We just got back from the swearing-in ceremonies for my oldest son as he departs for the Air Force BMT in a couple hours. He will be going through basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, so only about three hours from us, and probably a hop, skip and jump for TexanMark. Here's hoping he takes in all the benefits that the military can provide, and gives the effort we know he's capable of.

So, when do I get to sign up for those sweet USAA insurance plans? ;)

Be sure he knows his Texas Veteran's Benefits, too. Very good for education, a friend of mine earned his JD on Texas' dime.

At least he was smart and picked the Air Force. Congrats to your son!!
Yes. Being in the world's largest paramilitary organization is much, much easier than being in the military.

"Oh man! The cable's out in my dormitory. And then they expect me to re-enlist after something like that happens?"

Congrats, BTW.

Congrats to you and your son.
