Knicks! (and other NBA action)

Knicks would also get Brooklyn's 2016 first round pick and Boston 2018 first pick.
Clippers would also get Dallas and Boston 2016 first round picks.

What do Knicks fans think?

They would get 35 million in cap space this offseason.
stupidest trade in history.

and im counting the nets move for all those ancient celtics in there.

and that was click bait, isiah will NEVER be associated with the Knicks again.

He already is. Isiah works for MSG. The hiring pissed Phil off last year.

Throw in one Calderon to the Clippers and Smart to the Knicks and I would do it. Not sure how the math works out with Calderon and Smart though.

The thing with these Melo trades is that if he's ever moved, it will probably be for what appears to be a relatively poor return due to the fact that he controls where he goes and can basically control how much his future team gives up. In all likelihood, the Knicks are better off hanging onto him, but if they do decide to move him, I honestly think the Bill Simmons idea is roughly the return they can expect for him. I'd probably try to get other young Celtics players like Zeller and Hunter instead of Rozier and Young, but getting a top 3-5 pick, late 1st, and a couple young prospects for an aging superstar with a NTC isn't too bad of a haul IMO.

I think Blake for Melo might have some legs. At least I hope that.

The other trade rumor involving Boston is they would trade Olynuk, Lee, Rosier, Bos/Dallas 2016 1st rd picks for Al Horford/Kyle Kovier and another Atlanta salary dump.

Blake would force KP to play the 5 though.

That Nets pick is going to be top 3 IMO. Could be 1st or 2nd honestly. I don't want to trade that Nets pick just because it could be Ben Simmons.

It's not perfect, but he's been playing a lot at the 5 lately, and Blake and KP match up on the timeline a lot more.

The Nets are now tied with the Suns for the third worst record. I t hink it's more likely they finish fourth than second.

I honestly don't buy the idea that the Clippers have any interest in trading Blake, and I don't think Melo is enough for Blake straight up at this point anyways.

Sixers
Lakers
Suns
Nets
will be the bottom 4 in some order but its the ping-pong balls. The teams 2-4 have won the lottery a lot more than the team with the worst record. If you finish bottom 5 you have a decent shot.

Zach Lowe seems to think they're definitely going to look into it in the off-season. That's one guy, but I also need to hold onto hope, so give me that!

The Wolves are only 2 games ahead of the Nets; it's possible the Nets go as low as 5 int he standings, though I doubt it.

If t hey finish 4th, they have a 12% chance to get the top pick. Is holding onto that worth not getting Blake Griffin?

I am sure they could include more Nets picks if they had too. Do you see the Nets improving much in the next 2 years?
I don't see them getting that much better because everyone will have cap space and their roster sucks. Atleast the NYK have KP to sell.

Well, this trade clearly isn't going to happen, so it's irrelevant. I get wanting to hold onto the pick this year, Simmons is going to be an awesome player. Would probably flip it for Blake though

So your Boston GM and you win the lottery this year you would trade that pick for Blake?

That would really be a tough sell for me and C's fans. They are a fun team but Blake doesn't put them in contention with Cleveland I don't think.
You would know more than I would.
Love for Wiggins is looking like a bad trade for Cleveland right now.

Well I more meant right now I would; as in when I don't know what the pick would be.
If it's actually Ben Simmons? I don't know. Simmons will be so much cheaper than Blake, and he's obviously quite a few years younger. And it's possible he becomes an even better player than Blake, though Blake is awesome. Blake is making about $20 million each of the next 2 years, at which point he'll get a max for at least $30 per year. Simmons is going to make about $22 million over the course of his rookie deal. So if you knew you had Simmons, you might pocket the $15 million in cap space and keep him

76ers are taking calls for Noel and Okafor.

Haha What. That organization is a dumpster fire.

Noel is going to be a good player. He already is.

You put him on a team with a good PnR PG, and he can be solid on offense.

Okafor would have been a star if it were the 80s or early 90s.

Man I love Brad Stevens but his team can not play any defense at all. The Celtics are a fun to watch but have to be among the worst defensive teams I have seen in recent NBA history.

They score a ton of points though.

What? They're ranked as one of the best defensive teams in the league.

Every game it seems like the Celtics scoring over 100 points and giving up over 100 points. What metric are they rated as one of the best defensive teams in the league?

The only good defenders they have are Marcus Smart and Avery Bradley.

Crowder and Turner are okay and all of their bigs have been bad. Amir Johnson has been a bust.

Boston will likely win one round at best in the East. I don't think they can beat Cleveland or Toronto in a seven games series. They are 1 good big away.

They rank 2nd in the NBA in defensive efficiency but 14th in opponent's points per game. Guessing they have a fast-paced offense that pushes up possessions per game, which will naturally push scoring higher, but in points per possession, they are actually quite good.

They're top 5 in basically all of them lol. I agree that they're likely a 2nd round team in the playoffs at best though. At any rate, they have about as good a chance at winning the title this year as Philly does. Golden State and San Antonio are just way too good.

I agree. Melo is aging in dog years at this point as well, probably 2-3 years left tops with any productivity. He's really developing an old man game, which I applaud. I do think that the Clips would deal Blake at this point for the right deal. If knicks can get some picks and or decent talent for Melo they should do it, this team being a serious threat is beyond Melo's years at this point. Porzingis will be solid and won't mind sharing the scene with a big gun either.

One of the Simmon's podcast mentioned Kyrie for Chris Paul trade, thought was interesting
