Class of 2016 New Commit: Clayton Burt (CT) Attack

Looks like a good get. What stands out the most to me is his passing and vision, ha d a couple nice rips too.
Would love to see some high school tape.

Caught the New Canaan Wilton game last night. NC was coming off a close win over Fairfield Prep who Wilton has just blown out so I was hoping for a close game but NC ran away with it from the start. 11-2 final. New Canaan is really stacked. Seniors going to Harvard, Denver, and Cuse. Juniors going to UVA, Maryland, UNC, and Vermont.

I was late and couldn't find a roster so luckily the kid I thought was Clayton ended up being Clayton. He was 3-1 or 2-2 depending on what newspaper you read. Most of the offense ran through him and he played mainly on the left side. He's a quick shifty attackman who is good with the ball in his stick. He forced the ball into some triple teams a few times but worked fairly easily. Tough to really see how much he can contribute against a weaker opponent. Will be interesting to see him later in the season. I felt a midfielder, Kyle Smith, was the best offensive talent on the field. He of course is committed to Denver. :(

Good to hear that he looked fairly well, definitely an opportunity next year for a young guy to earn PT though SU does have a ton of young attackmen who return next year. Give Denver credit they built most of their teams with low ranked recruiting classes and now their getting some cream of the crop guys as well. Tierney can't retire fast enough.

Guys like Geoff Snider(although he was pre-Tierney). Elite box players from Western Canada had given that program a good lift from the start.

david clayton burt incoming ? do we have any shot at hamilton's joe franken reynolds ? don't pull the love.

Just finished watching the second half, quick rundown, I don't think either commit had a point. Burt was quite only real mention he had was that he did things that won't show up on box score. And wood had a couple shots, one point blank and saved by the NC goalie, who the announcers said was amazing In goal. Also think the announcers said that the the NC defense was a top defense in that county/section.

Score was NC 7 Staples 4.

Big time matchup. Winner will be the best team in the state.

how many D1 on Darien?
Seniors: Brown, Penn x2, UVM (5 D3)
Juniors: Loyola, Brown, Penn, UVM x2, Lafayette
Sophomores: Providence, Bryant, Lafayette

vs. New Canaan
Seniors: Harvard, Denver, UVA, Georgetown, Syracuse
Juniors: UVA, Maryland, UNC, UVM

Lot of talent on the field

Give me some box lax players every time. That is exactly the skill set we need in some of our attackers. Not afraid to get in front of the goal and mix it up, playing and shooting in traffic, catch and release, crafty shot placement.

Stephen Keogh comes to mind. He could catch and finish in a phone booth.

close box style finish really takes two to tango. someone who can see the setup and someone who can catch and stick it in traffic (and take the hit).
sadly not too many gait twins around.

10-7 Darien
Darien came out hot in the first half and New Canaan could barely clear the ball but somehow it was only 5-3 at half.
Darien was just more consistent and forced too many turnovers.

Clayton was very quiet in the first but came alive in the 2nd to finish with 4 goals. 3 of them from outside. He has 11 on the year now.

Was talking to a friend tonight. Turns out Clayton's dad played for Cuse! His mom is also an alum and his brother is currently a student. Right in Desko's recruiting wheelhouse!
