Class of 2017 WR Cameron Jordan (NY) COMMITTED & SIGNED TO SYRACUSE

great interview.

This kid is so smoooth when he runs. All of 6-4 190. High major kid imho. really looks the part. Dare I say mike williams?

rvls has him a 2 star RR 5.4. that's a joke. He's easily the top WR in NY and rvls has the buttgers NYC kid rated higher at 3 star 5.6. lol. (and a staten island athlete rated higher. it's a joke).

Cam is smooth, effortless runner. long arms, built physique. great basketball player. this kid is going to make noise.

The way he talks reminds me of Jerome Smith. sort of looks like him too. Rivals is a total joke. They never give are recruits any real evaluation. The jones kid rated higher than him is ridiculous. Rutgers is his only P5 offer while Cam has 3.

This kid is good. At 6'4" and great speed he could be a difference maker on the outside.
I have really high hopes Palmer, Jordan, or both can contribute from Day 1.

No idea how he'll develop, but, this kid "looks" like a big-time WR. Let's be honest, we don't have a ton of these in the stable for the X & Z positions. Custis, Enoicy & Butler are basically all that stands between the FR and the field for the 1 outside positions opposite Ishmael.

Very strong chance a FR is on the 2-Deep at either side, which means they'll play at some point this season.

I know I am going to get beat up on this but I do believe we went after him because mainly his height. Yes he has pretty good hands, but other than that , you mention speed, I didn't see that much. He was wide open and running down the side line and he gets caught from behind with no problem. I see no break away speed, and I see he is not quick off the line. Also he must be taller than all his competition he played. jmo...:noidea:

We definitely need someone that can stretch the field to step-up next year. The coaches thought enough of Custis to RS him, so maybe he and/or Butler become factors with their size and speed.

If both Jordan and Palmer look good, I could see one or both getting PT next year. I've never been sold on Ish due to his lack of speed. Great hands and a good blocker but I can see him getting jumped on the 2-deep.

I see the same issue as you about lack of speed off the ball, but I disagree that he doesn't have good speed in the open field. Sometimes these bigger guys look slower because of their stride length. He looks like a physical specimen, but his starts at snap need work for sure. You can't teach height though, so if that was the only reason + good hands for going after him, I am completely okay with that.

He has straight line speed. When he's able to turn it on, he flys. He wont get caught from behind. His issue is getting in and out of his breaks. It takes him a long time to gain top speed. He doesnt look explosive after he makes a intermediate catch. SoI dont see him going under coverages on intermediate routes. I see him making catches down the sidelines on fades and posts. I think the staff sees a fit in their offense because of that. He also does a good job high pointing that ball and taking it away from defenders. He does a good job on 50/50 balls. Our scheme relies on the outside WR's doing that. Hey Finwad32 Coach Rotchford is sitting with me as we speak.

In no world that I live in do I see Steve Ishmael getting jumped by anyone on this roster in his senior year.

No, but one of the incoming frosh might and I think both Custis and Butler have higher ceilings than Ish.

I really like Steve but he has limited ability because of his lack of speed and quickness. We really didn't miss a beat when he was injured. In fact, I thought AC looked better than Steve did because he had the ability to get behind the defense.

With that said, I hope Steve proves me wrong and has a monster senior year...he really deserves it.

how did they only throw it to him 22 times?
They dont throw the ball that much. He makes plays when they do. I think I remember hearing the starting QB was lost at the bginning of the season. So maybe that's the reason why they didnt throw a lot.

i know some teams dont like to throw but when you throw for 30 yds a play and a td half the time thats crazy.

I just got around to watching Cam's highlights from his senior year.
Couple of things:

Cam's got potential to be a really good outside receiver for us in the future. He has great speed, and I don't know what other posters saw, but I did not see him get tracked down from behind in his senior highlights. I think his hands are plus and I love the way we highpoints the ball.

The one thing he will need to work on to be a big factor at the next level is his route running. As you can see on the tape, he really rounds all of his route off. He rarely plants his foot in the ground and accelerates into his route. To be an effective receiver, especially on the outside, route running is key. He doesn't run with a lot of knee bend right now. I would love to see him run routes lower and use his hips more.

Give him a a year in the strength and conditioning program with some advanced WR work, he could develop to be 6'4 200lb stud.

I can agree with you 100% on your last statement. Redshirt him and put muscle pounds on him and work hard on the route running and there will be a stud for sure, no doubt.

This.

And unlike in past years - I feel really confident in our WR coach and HCDB. They get these guys right.
