Tech isn't an historical ACC team , so I don't imagine they would have some big issue with it and could still play UVA as a crossover . Clemson would get to play more of their old ACC rivals and would not be in the same division as FSU .

I'm sick of these lopsided ridiculous divisions as well. But everyone in the coastal is perfectly fine with the setup.

Tells you something when a 4-8 Syracuse team beats the top team in the coastal soundly and puts up 61 points on Pitt

It's not going to change but I guess these posts are just replacing the conference realignment threads everyone loved making projections on .

Syracuse only plays in the state of Virginia once a decade . In the mean time ODU , JMU , Richmond and William and Mary are getting a lot of great players from a rich recruiting region . Something has to change .

clemson would oppose losing there annual fsu game

If we're losing out on players to the schools you mentioned, we've got bigger problems than playing FSU and Clemson every year.

35% of the players in the NFL came from G5 and lower . There are a lot of players in Virginia .

Its beyond ridiculous and the lack of balance in the ACC and the B10 division's will contribute to weird situations in picking the final 4 playoff teams. sticking the Ville in the Atlantic was dumb. The ville in the coastal could have closed the gap a bit .

Syracuse is 1 - 7 against the cupcake Coastal Division since joining the ACC.
Ouch. Who did we beat? ( WAIT.. VT this year was our first win ??????!??!? .. really?)

I do like the OP's idea though.. makes sense. Probably won't happen...

I like the idea of playing in Va more often. This is a must.

Hopefully the cyclical nature of college football will tip more our way soon.

switching the divisions is a very difficult task with everyone in the coastal ok with status quo.

I'm still mad they didn't do an unofficial old Big East division. Keep rivalries alive.

Syracuse, Miami, VT, Pitt, BC, Louisville, and whoever else they want to throw in. I would say Virginia, so they can put all the Carolina and old ACC Deep South teams together.

Georgia Tech beat us worse a couple years ago than FSU/Clemson/Louisville ever have.

By "us" - you mean the previous coaching regime?

Plus seeing them more often makes them easier to figure out.

At first Jimbo and Dabo were agitating to be in separate divisions. Now, it seems that they've changed their minds and want to stay together. Fine. If that's what they really want, then swap VPI and Louavul. We'd get VPI as our crossover and Louavul would get BC. Most UVa fans are still PO'ed about the political interference that got VPI into the conference, so moving them into the Atlantic Division is no problem for us.

I would think moving UVA over and witching them with either Fla.St./Clemson/L'Ville would better balance out the conference as this would also make the road trip there much shorter for 'cuse fans as a bonus.

UVA would leave the ACC if it lost annual games with UNC and Duke.
I think flipping Miami and Clemson could work.
Make Clemson-FSU a crossover.
Make VPI-Miami a cross over.
Make BC-Georgia Tech crossover games.
The rest stay the same.

I think Clemson likes it this way is because they get FSU (division) and Miami (crossover) annually. With your setup, they lose Miami except for twice every 12 years.

As to your first point, I'll let Hoo's That handle that one.

There are 2 teams in Florida , 1 in each division . There are 4 teams in North Carolina, 2 in each division . There are 2 teams in Virginia, both are in the same division . Syracuse never gets to play games in the giant recruiting region of Eastern Pa , New Jersey , Maryland, Delaware, DC, Virginia . This area is half a days drive to campus but it's like a black hole .

my best compromise of adjusting the divisions would be to swap Bc and Louisville for Va Tech and Pitt.

Atlantic: ----------------------------------Coastal:
Florida State-----------------------------Miami
Clemson---------------------------------Georgia Tech
NC State---------------------------------North Carolina
Wake Forest----------------------------Duke
Virginia Tech---------------------------Virginia
Syracuse---------------------------------Boston College
Pittsburgh-------------------------------Louisville
