It's showtime -- let the (NBA) games begin!

The Kobe retirement tour allowed the Lakers to tank without the same scorn that Philly got.

Agreed, though the Lakers are also team building in a way that makes more sense than Philly. Philly is stuck in a position where they basically have to make a trade or two due to the stockpiling of big men. The Lakers have way more flexibility as their roster makes sense right now. They could make a trade for a superstar or just keep all their guys and build with them(I think Ingram will become a superstar).

Also, the Lakers signed veterans like Lou Williams and Nick Young last year...actual NBA caliber players. The Sixers avoided that completely for about three years and were trotting out D League level talent at the guard spots.

Kevin Love just had a career quarter: 34 points -- 8 outta 10 threes. Sick.

Chris Bosh said it two years ago when LeBron went home and joined Kyrie -- that the adjustment would be toughest for Love -- and that's pretty much how it played out. He, and the Cavs, seem to have figured things out.

Remember last year when someone posted about Carmelo's struggles on game winning shot attempts in recent years? He's knocked down two game winners in the last week. Amazing what having a couple other threats on the court can do.

I really don't think it's helped all that much though? All they do is continue to run iso's for him and he's just happened to knock down a few jumpers. In both games he had chances to ice/win the game and missed before hitting the game winner.

On another note, Towns is just a beast.

Good thing he hit that shot, because he had a dreadful game otherwise. Looked incredibly sluggish.

On both he was able to get the ball in good spots, in one on one situations. No doubles. Not forced to catch it 30 feet from the hoop. When he's on, he's still close to unguarable when he gets the ball in that spot.

Yeah, I think they've got to watch his minutes. He's shot horribly since after that OT win where he played 41 min. He's got a lot of miles on him. Tired legs means missed jumpers. He was shooting very well prior to the last week.

I just hate the trope of isoball on the final shot. But its not going anywhere

Should I start taking the Clippers seriously as a title contender?

If they stay healthy, yes. I don't think they will win it, but this is the first time where I really think they could do it. Every other year either they had no athleticism at the SG-SF spot, or one of or even both of their stars got hurt.

Giannis just keeps getting better. That guy is a fun player. It's hard to tell just where his ceiling is...right now it seems limitless. I'd say he's a legit top 15 player now.

there is so much high end talent in the NBA right now . . . I can't even make a top 10 list, because the guy who'd I'd put at 18 or 19 is as good as the guy I'd put at 7 or 8.

ho hum another game where the Clippers come up small. but I bet ESPN was able to show some cool alley oops. Bitch at the refs more Paul. My point as always is wake me up when these clowns get past the 2nd round.

The Spurs are perpetually going to be one game the Warriors all year.

pretty clear nobody is going to have to wake you up; you are finely tuned to everything the Clips are doing!

Admittedly, I don't really watch the NBA. I love college basketball, but the NBA doesn't interest me much. That being said, do people really spend their Christmas Day watching it? I see ESPN hyping up a game and wondered to myself if this was something people do. Unlike Thanksgiving where watching (and sometimes playing) football seems ingrained into the holiday, I've never felt any desire to try and fit pro hoops into my Christmas.
