    OL Discussion

Reed really underperformed all season. Was being blown up vs Army and truly never got better. Need him to improve or need another option. Just my two cents n

Leon Lowery transferring to Wisconsin (again)

Agreed. Winning is what matters. Making use of the extra 15 days of practice. Having practices that some recruits can see. Making sure the players also have fun … needs to be a good mix.

    SU Football Season Tickets

Do you or anyone you know want two great tickets for the upcoming season? In looking at my Fall work schedule, there is almost no possible way for me to get to any of Syracuse's home football games (I live in Houston, Texas). I've had season tickets since 1995 and am reticent to give them up...

    My Run-in w/ Kelvin Samspon

    My Run-in w/ Kelvin Samspon

My run-in with Kelvin Sampson morning after 2003 championship I’m waiting to fly back to Houston at NOLA airport having partied all night. Strike up a conversation with a very nice woman at the gate. She congratulates me on the Syracuse win and how much she enjoyed watching them play. Next...

Class of 2023 WR Darrell Gill (TX) COMMITTED / SIGNED TO SYRACUSE (2/1/23)

From friend here in Texas who is very close with the family and Texas high school football … Gill had a poor junior year. Not sure why. I’ll try and find out … could’ve been injury, just not physically developed yet, poor QB play, immaturity, better players in front of him … who knows. Either...

Deion Sanders may hold the key …

Bronco Mendenhall is allegedly very interested in the Colorado Buffs job. It’s been reported that Colorado has offered the job to Deion. If he doesn’t accept and the Buffs turn their attention to Mendenhall, I could see a scenario where Syracuse loses one or both of Anae and/or Beck. This would...

The crowd, the injuries, and Darton…

Because the State Penn game was a blowout and field storms were not the norm. The game was a snooze fest for the final quarter with our 3rd and 4th stringers giving up a few TDS to make the final score look close. I’ll ask some friends, but I sure as heck don’t remember going onto the field...

The crowd, the injuries, and Darton…

I don’t remember us storming the field multiple times in 1987, my frosh year. It was only after the West Virginia game if my memory is correct. We didn’t storm before the State Penn game (so that would only leave 5 more games with some on the road) and didn’t storm after beating State Penn for...

There really is no excuse for that play not being reviewed. Awful by ACC officials. Just awful. That was a BLATANT targeting.

    Tuckers vision was off tonight

What I’ve seen from TV (not all-22 mind you) is that there are plays to be made play side, but Tucker hasn’t been patient and has looked for cutback early. I do agree that there are many runs where the D has set the edge forcing Tucker to stay inside where there aren’t any running lanes.
  16. TheOrangeBuddha

    Tuckers vision was off tonight

I respectfully disagree Rick. He’s not following the play design. Yes there are certain plays where the D has effectively set the edge, forcing Tucker to get what he can inside - which hasn’t been much. But it seems like Tucker is having trust issues with the play side and is too eager to break...

    Purdue refs

Agreed but there was another flag on the play (offensive holding), so despite the FACT that it was not an illegal pass, we would have been in a 3rd and 25+ situation.

    Syracuse Buckets T-Shirts

Doesn’t mention his name ... but Syracuse athletics makes a nice royalty for every shirt sold. They tried to make it more specific to Buddy, but Syracuse isn’t willing to go there yet because the image fees and regulations have not been finalized by the NCAA.

    Kelvin Sampson

UofH and Kelvin Sampson (and his staff) better hope they attack the zone better that Sampson’s last attempts to do so in 2003. I’m pretty sure Quannas White and Hollis Price aren’t going to be of any assistance (both on the UodH coaching staff). Peace

    My Take

I could not agree more on your last point, nobody should be playing more than 35 minutes a night. Heck, I would lower that to 30-32 minutes a night. Everyone should be getting a rest. There are 120 minutes at the 1, 2 and 3 spots ... find a way to split those minutes 25-32 minutes each...

Kevin Marks (U Buffalo RB) ...

Kevin Marks, RB at University of Buffalo. has entered transfer portal. Might be nice replacement for J. Jordan. He had 1000 yards in 2019 and 700+ this year backing up Jaret Patterson. He’s went to high school in Virginia.

the class of 2022 will be interesting

Indeed ... I’m still waiting for more specifics on how this will all work for the coming years. It seems like the players that would have exhausted their eligibility this past season, will not count towards the 85 limit. But will that be the case for the kids after the 2021 season that want to...

Class of 2017 C Johnny Jordan (VA) Transferring to Virginia Tech

Tep624 i think you missed my original point ... we made no effort (none whatsoever) to see whether there was interest despite a significant need at the position. Many of the schools that reached out to him as a grad transfer were also part of his recruitment out of high school. And each were...

Now we are getting ridiculous... since when is Virginia Tech a school in the DMV. Geez. It’s a 4+ hour drive away. It’s the equivalent of saying Syracuse is a Boston area school. You fly to DC and drive over for the game, I’ll fly to Greensboro or Charlotte and beat you there by several hours...

Nope. Not true.VaTech only came into the picture the evening he entered the portal. First team to contact him was Penn State. More than 10 power conference schools reached out to him within 24 hours of him entering the portal, including nearly all of our rivals.

Class of 2017 C Johnny Jordan (VA) Transferring to Virginia Tech

SU was in Jordan’s final 4. It is derelict to not reach out. If told no or not interested by Jordan, that’s fine. As I said ... The paper article about Tyler and Malachi is more than interesting--

Only concern with playing Lydon at the 3, is that right now he can easily step out and pop jumpers on the bigs trying to guard him off of pick and roll action. If you switch that up and Lydon is now guarded by a 6-5 to 6-8 wing player, those pick and pop opportunities are more difficult because...

    the zone

Why is this concept so difficult for people? Villanov's very successful three and four guard lineups did this every year. Doubling. Scrapping. And NEVER getting killed on the boards like Syracuse teams historically do.

Kicking ball into stands from 50-yard line

I realize several of the true freshmen that played were necessary because they beat out all others to earn a spot on the two-deep.
