Class of 2020 F Jyare Davis (DE) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (4/15/24)

My comp might be Harrison Ingram. Good size for a forward who is versatile and would be a nice complement to what we think we have in Freeman and Bell. I would prefer Darlinton Dubar, because he has better outside shooting history, but would be excited to see how Davis would fit for us...

Class of 2025 WR Julian McFadden (PA) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (4/3/24)

I’m a little confused by the pacifier in his mouth? Is that his mouthguard?

    Possible Portal Point Guards

https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/college-basketball-transfer-portal-2024-ranking-top-50-players-as-skyy-clark-commits-to-ucla/ A current ranking of top portables. Dubar is high on the list. Helped to see who some of the point guards on the open market are

    Possible Portal Point Guards

I’m all in on Dubar. Do we have any connections? Would be able to play the 3 or 4 and switching defender. Older athlete, 3 or 4 man rotation at the forward spot (Freeman/Dubar/Bell/Westry). Great insurance if Freeman or Westry struggle to acclimate, or if Bell doesn’t improve as a defender...

    Possible Portal Point Guards

If Dubar is an upgrade over Bell, especially with regard to rebounding/defense, then I would hope that the coaches wouldn’t hesitate to pursue with the intention to let the best players play. Anything less is a good way to have a short coaching career (as a P4 head coach at least).

Class of 2024 PG Brooklyn “Showtime” Vick (FL)

There is no way we offered this young man a scholarship, unless he is Billy Owens other son;-)

Class of 2025 QB Luke Carney (TX) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (3/25/25)

Red Season 1 Now a Bust

I would say that a lot likely depends on his and his staff’s ability to acquire talent. Like we are seeing in football, with the yearly turnover of rosters, getting the players necessary to make his system work is critical. Having our first McDonalds AA in forever is a nice start. A legit...

Class of 2021 DB Tyreek Chappell (PA) Staying at Texas A&M

https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Tyreek-Chappell-DB-TexasAANDM Liked this write up and breakdown. Really hoping to land him and Raikes as parting gifts to come with Elijah Robinson on defense. Would already know the system. Huge advantage to have seniors in each position group to coach up...

Class of 2021 QB Kyle McCord (NJ) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (12/17/23)

In that highlight video, he gets 90% of those throws off within about 2 seconds. Definitely a pocket passer for them, didn’t really see any throws on the run. The receivers did make some tough catches. Hopefully he can acclimate to the new offense quickly enough to be similarly efficient, and...

Class of 2024 LB Fatim Diggs (NJ) COMMITTED / SIGNED NLI TO SYRACUSE (12/18/23)

Nice quick clip. In watching a bit of the Hudl, he looks to be a nice middle linebacker prospect (is that a thing in a 4-2-5?). Ratings don’t make sense for a kid with 120 tackles in his senior year, and those offers. I think he’s a take;-)
  16. O

Class of 2023 DL Will Norman (NJ) Portal from Florida to Marshall

If you look at those rankings (one isolated year), the top 12 or so seem to be high P5 kids. If we can put ourselves in contention to get 5-8 kids per class out of Jersey, and they are made up mostly from that tier, we’ll be cooking:-)

Class of 2023 WR Yazeed Haynes (PA) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (12/16/23)

This one would be an awesome get. And with the transfer spent, more valuable than a high school recruit with the same amount of eligibility.

Class of 2024 Top Prospects in NYS Class of 2024

Wonder if any of the top kids would (other than Caden Brown) will give an open ear now
  19. O

    Mike Hopkins and UW

Haven’t kept up with their roster. Pretty much plays all seniors and has a sophomore coming off the bench. Will be interesting if he can catch lightning via the transfer portal with more seasoned players.

Class of 2024 SF Caleb Williams (DC) Offered

Wonder if our offer is commitable? thinking Bethea is our biggest priority. Thinking with transfer portal, that we’re less likely to be bringing in a lot of 4 or 5 player classes.

    Next year’s backcourt

I think JJ is a much more versatile and talented offensive player at this point than the others mentioned. I think that if Westry and Starling are healthy, that the 3 guard lineup is how we’ll start most games. Westry is a much better defender and distributor than Bell. If anyone wants to...

    Full Roster

Agree, rigid much more so defensively. Offensively, Coach B was still somewhat multiple, but we didn’t have the players year to year to score enough to overcome our progressively worsening defense. And I’ll always maintain that the zone was not friendly to 1st year players (whether frosh or...

Class of 2024 Top Prospects in NYS Class of 2024

For some reason the spreadsheet is blocked stating the owner has stopped sharing or that I don’t have permission to open it. Is this only available on the payside?

Class of 2024 QB Andy Bass (OK) Verbal to Oklahoma

I agree that his collegiate path positionally may be tough to predict (positionless football??). Has some Cooper Lutz in him, and with OCJB’s Virginia track record, there is likely a lot of options for an athlete like this. Noticed in the thread that he had the top Sparq rating at his regional...

    Summer Workouts

His highlights were not jaw dropping. Not a ton of burst, did have good hands. Just shows how much work ethic, studying the game like a pro, and natural feel can outweigh the other stuff. Agree about Tucker as well, didn’t know he had the wheels to become a future pro.

Class of 2025 SG Kiyan Anthony (NY) Offered

One potential difference, from a filling out perspective: Melo had likely never seen a weight room at the time of that picture above. Kiyan has lived with the best resources, and likely is already doing all of that work. But yes, kids usually get stronger from age 16-19. From those who’ve...

Class of 2024 C Patrick Ngongba II (VA) Offered

Certainly need to get a visit to have a chance here. Will be a crowded bigs room for the class of 24, potentially. But I do think you plan your roster year by year now, and he seems like one who is going to get minutes from the start. Attrition will occur based on the way the current guys...

Judah Mintz to test NBA Draft waters

Don’t disagree. But I would expect Maliq Brown to progress nicely year to year as we have him and he gets to continue to play at this level. Natural feel for the game/positioning/positional versatility as a defender. Having watched the Celtics a lot over the last few years, he is the...

Class of 2024 G Elijah Moore (NY) COMMITTED & SIGNED TO SYRACUSE (1/28/23)

I was able to watch one of the games that his HS team played against Boogie Fland. In that game he mostly floated on the perimeter, and I don’t remember them having a lot of action that involved him running off screens ala Gerry, Andy, Trevor, Joe. He is not a ball dominant guard, he seemed...

Class of 2022 DB Jalil Martin (IL) Transferring from Nebraska to Syracuse (5/17/23)

Back to Jalil Martin. Not sure I saw his Hudl highlights in the thread (probably just missed them): https://www.hudl.com/profile/10935612/Jalil-Martin Certainly a well put together rangy athlete. Looked like he was a couple notches above his competition. Great body type/athlete to add to...

Class of 2024 PF Jadyn Harris (VA)

    JJ Starling Transferring to Syracuse

This is a really fun watch. Judah and JJ head to head as high school seniors. Arguably the two best players on the court, and both showed a lot of grit and toughness trying to come out with the W. Would be really sweet to have both next year

With his height and hops, could play a role similar to Kansas St’s Tomlin (really liked that kids game)!

Class of 2019 F Josh Oduro (George Mason) grad transfer...

I watched some highlights that showed his skill set. Has a lot of Drew Timme in him. Agree that there is the chance that defensively there may be some question marks, choosing to trust the staff on all of that. https://www.nbadraftjunkies.com/josh-oduro

New Assistant: Brenden Straughn [Now confirmed]

If we are able to bring in Justin Moore to bolster next years squad, it is an absolutely perfect scenario. An experienced guard who excels on both ends, and can be a leader especially in showing the youngsters how to defend. Tournament experience. Extra ball handler who can provide so much...

Class of 2023 DL Ty Gordon (VA) COMMITTED / SIGNED TO SYRACUSE (12/17/22)

Tough for ODU to lose a kid like this so late. That said as a Cuse fan, love his film. He just looks like he belongs in the middle of the Dline. Very functional athlete, Ted Gregory/Kevin Mitchell vibes as he’s not particularly tall, but sheds blockers and looks really strong for his listed...

Class of 2022 PG Quadir Copeland (PA/IMG) COMMITTED/SIGNED TO SYRACUSE

MCW measurables, and possibly similar athleticism and areas to improve as a freshman (tighten the handle and work on the jumper). Would be amazing if he had a similar career trajectory. Obviously we all remember his defensive prowess, was tenacious and a leader that made the zone viable.

Cole Swider Transferring from Nova to Syracuse

I think the Cole is going to be an effective offensive player for us. The more capable he is from a shot creation, driving standpoint, the more versatile we will be offensively. But, obviously, basketball is played on both ends of the court, and we have not faired particularly well with...

Class of 2021 SF Benny Williams (MD / IMG) COMMITTED/SIGNED TO SYRACUSE

Moyer was the Connecticut player of the year after playing his senior year at South Kent (transferred from the Columbus, OH area). He never showed a great feel for the game at the college level, which was also the downfall of recent underwhelming highly ranked recruits, Kaleb Joseph and Jalen...

    Griffin gives me flashbacks to...

probably the most “bouncy” athlete we’ve had since Jerami Grant. As with most players, he’s just got to find the balance between trying to do to much (ball handling and contested 3’s) and doing too little (usually defensive intensity). I can see why Illinois used him as a super-sub on a top 15...
