Class of 2024 PF Donnie Freeman (MD / IMG) COMMITTED & SIGNED TO SYRACUSE (5/11/23)

For Christ’s sake, the level of pessimism of some posters on this board is astounding, it’s been less than 24 hours since Freeman committed and you’re bringing up the potential for a decommitment. I realize we have had some lousy luck over the last few years in recruiting but allow us to enjoy...

Class of 2023 C William Patterson (NY) COMMITTED/SIGNED TO SYRACUSE (2/20/23)

Another thing old Nick doesn’t get is that even if William’s basketball skills aren’t up to his standards he’s a large young man and he will be on campus with him next year. You might want to think twice about who you insult on social media.

    Anyone going to Wisconsin?

Funny you would ask about AJ Bombers, I was at the Milwaukee one just a few weekends ago. Apparently they just decided not to renew their lease, the Madison market is pretty saturated with those type of joints. Anyways a couple places I like to go for food in a pinch are Ian's Pizza and...

    Anyone going to Wisconsin?

That is correct, you can find all types of ethnic restaurants all over downtown, especially along State St. As far as a true Wisconsin experience I would recommend a visit to the Old Fashioned right on the Capitol Square, brats, burgers and cheese curds with a great selection of local beers...

Class of 2016 OT Sam Heckel (WI) SIGNED LOI

It is highly doubtful, the UW staff has seen him numerous times including a recent camp and have declined to offer. From what I know the Badgers only plan on taking one more lineman this cycle and have other prospects higher on their board. As a Wisconsin native and fan of both programs I'd love...

Class of 2016 OT Sam Heckel (WI) SIGNED LOI

Evan Flood just put in a crystal ball for Heckel to SU. This guy is dialed in to Wisconsin high school recruiting so I think the Orange are golden on this one!

Class of 2015 SG Malachi Richardson (NJ) Verballed to Syracuse

Forgot about Dion already? He seemed to get up pretty effortlessly. That said it is great to hear that Malachi is developing physically. If he improves his dribble drive game he will be a deadly offensive weapon with his outside shot.

Class of 2017 C/PF Moustapha Diagne (NJ) to Western Kentucky

I love the first sentence of that article, "Syracuse has a reasonable chance at getting a pretty fair recruit". That comment just reeks of Duke smugness, one of the many examples of why I hate everything about the Blue Devils.

Class of 2015 F Tyler Lydon (NY) Verballed to Syracuse

When I watch some of Lydon's highlights I'm reminded a bit of a certain kid from my hometown (Sam Dekker) who is having a solid sophomore season at Wisconsin. He is a combo forward with good athleticism and solid all around skills. Sam was a fringe top 100 player in his class as a junior who...

Class of 2016 PG Tyus Battle (NJ) Signed LOI

With all due respect to Jay Wright and the Villanova program, if Tyus was at tonight's game he likely isn't too impressed. After being among the 35,000 plus who witnessed the spectacle in the dome last weekend their venue would appear small time in comparison.;)

    Serious question about memphis...

...And not to mention Memphis is a hot bed for basketball talent, for it's size that city might crank out more division one college players per capita than any other city in America.

It appears Rick Majerus has died.

Coach Majerus is originally from my community (Sheboygan WI). He has had heart issues for years, in fact he has been on the transplant list for about 4 months now. It is extremely sad to hear of his passing, he was a unique character and a genuinely kind human being.

    Summer Ball Highlights

Ennis plays a lot like the coach who is recruiting him, Red Autry who just happened to be a McD-AA. He doesn't have elite athleticism but is a savvy floor general who gets his teammates the ball where they can do damage and knows all the nuances of the position. He also shows the ability to...

Considering the success of Syracuse BB I gotta wonder

For whatever reason the 2013 class isn't moving real quickly on their decisions, only 15 of the top 50 players are committed as of now. The dominoes will begin to fall soon and I'm certain SU will land some of the big fish their shooting for.

    Favorite Former Cuse player week.

Derrick Coleman, the centerpiece to the great SU teams of the late 80's. I loved watching his epic battles with Alonzo Mourning back in the day, he brought the swag and bad ass attitude that was needed when playing Georgetown, Pitt, etc.

    Jermaine lawrence

Anyone who is complaining about our recruiting the last few years is out of their mind, we have been bringing in better talent than Kansas which is considered a blue blood program. The only reason SU doesn't have a top 5 class every year is we're not signing 5 players in a class. Look at the...

    "Golden Era"

Stevie is #7 on the career scoring list in SU history, that's a pretty special career imo. He didn't have a jump shot but he was a spectacular finisher on the break and a very good defender. Latest thoughts

What this team needs going forward is a floor general and Ennis fits the bill, Jordan's game sounds more like that of a scoring combo guard. We should have plenty of players at other positions on the roster capable of putting up points, I'd prefer a distributor.

    The Syracuse "Dunk Tape"

That Indiana game in the preseason NIT was probably my favorite game from a highlight standpoint, it looked like the Harlem Globetrotters vs. the Washington Generals. Nolan is from just down the road (Milwaukee) so I know a little bit about him. He has good athleticism for a center but he hasn't sharpened his skills yet. I know Yukon is desperate for bodies but Nolan is a project that will need some time before he is a consistent contributor.

Larry Brown considering Derrick Coleman to be an assistant at SMU

It wouldn't be a bad thing for him to get his feet wet somewhere else and he would be learning from one of the all time great coaches. Larry Brown is notorious for jumping from job to job so a perfect scenario would be for DC to work under him for a few years before coming back home to the hill.

Some thoughts and additional notes from the weekend

Thanks Francis for all the info, totally agree that other than Ennis we don't need instant impact with the 2013 class with all the talent already on the roster.
