The brag about my kid’s athletic performance thread.

My sophomore middle blocker played his first varsity game today and he fit right in.

    NIT Bracketology

I hate the NIT less than most posters on this board and if we had a promising group of young players with bright futures I would be all for it. For a dysfunctional team that's about to lose most of its players, the NIT wouldn't be good for the program or most of its fans.

All inclusive Marvel thread, MCU, D+ shows, comics and whatever else is nerds desire.

I'm the only one in my family that will watch the poorly rated shows and movies just so that I can keep up with the story line, but my Disney+ renewal is almost due and I think that I'm going to save the $120 for this year. The quality of the Marvel (and Star Wars) content has been low, it just...

The brag about my kid’s athletic performance thread.

Wow, that's exactly what my kid's tournament was like.

    The Talk

I don't know how many of those guys there are but you'd have to think that Syracuse would be an attractive landing spot for someone like that. There would be lots of playing time available.

The brag about my kid’s athletic performance thread.

My kid just started playing volleyball a year ago and made his club's elite team. They traveled out to Los Angeles to play the top teams in the country. He got a bunch of kills against the number one team in the country and got one of his plays on this highlight video. Unfortunately they lost...

    Frank Anselem @ UGA

I imagine that he’d be starting at Syracuse if he had stayed.

    Is anybody mad?

That's fair. All I know is that we need someone bigger and stronger than Brown down low, and he's my favorite player on the team.
  9. Conrad13

    Is anybody mad?

With all of the transferring, which I hate, I think that we are allowed to be a little more impatient. Arizona is a good example of a school that went through a far more tumultuous coaching change than ours and they bounced right back. It doesn't take time to build a program like it used to...

    SUNY Cortland - Final Four

I talked a lot of smack with all of my old Cortland friends and am getting rightfully killed for it. Oof. Cortland’s o line and qb were outstanding in the second half. Congratulations Cortland State!

    SUNY Cortland - Final Four

NCC coach is a good guy but wow, that was not a good idea going for two.

    SUNY Cortland - Final Four

It depends on the school I think. The Wisconsin schools are as big as many Division I schools so they have a pretty good pool to pull from. I think that it's just part of the DNA at Mount Union. North Central has been putting some resources into coaching and recruiting. Most of our student body...

    SUNY Cortland - Final Four

I grew up in Cortland and work at North Central College. I was really rooting for this game to happen. I have to pull for the Cardinals because I've been following all year. We have a great mobile quarterback who is a Gagliardi Trophy finalist and a three year starter with a fantastic O-line to...

Ouch. That's a pretty harsh article.

What’s the plan to replace Edwards and Girard?

If Jesse leaves, Hunter Dickinson just entered the portal
  20. Conrad13

    Ludicrous

I worked at Grinnell for three years and the games were goofy, but I’d be lying if I said they weren’t entertaining. A 20 point lead in either direction didn’t really mean much. A friend of mine was an alum and scored 80 something points in a game and you’d never have guessed if you met him.

Chilly reception for King Rice, coaching against UVA

I went to Golden Valley Basketball Camp in high school and King Rice came to give a motivational talk. They set up a one-on-one game between him and the best player at the camp. Rice got upset because we were cheering for our camp-mate and stopped the game when he airballed to yell at us. It was...

    Ian Aftermath....

Glad to know that you’re safe. My parents’ place is in Osprey and they haven’t gotten any reports yet but they’re cautiously optimistic. Their friends in Naples house got wet and their car is trashed. Best of luck with the cleanup!

    Puerto Vallarta

My friend's place is right on the inlet to the harbor in Nuevo Vallarta. A few years ago, they had a big quake and tsunami warnings. All of the boats hauled arse out of the harbor before almost all of the water was sucked out to sea. Fortunately, the wave wasn't too big but he watched the whole...

    Puerto Vallarta

We were staying in Nuevo Vallarta so we were a little closer, but the road to Bucerias is pretty fast. It would be more than $5 for a ride but it's a pretty different scene than Puerto Vallarta, so I'd recommend it if you're looking for a change of pace.

Class of 2020 C Quincy Ballard (NY) Transferring from FSU to Wichita St

Considering our current center situation, which isn't too bad, I'd rather focus on freshman centers than transfers. (Forwards and guards on the other hand...)

Class of 2022 C Ugonna Kingsley Onyenso (CT) Offered

I completely hear what you are saying, but when we're not even using up our scholarships, I think that there are times when it's worth taking some chances. I'd rather use a scholarship on a player who could blow up if they are healthy than on a player that just isn't good enough or not using the...

Jesse Edwards Out For The Season

If you have depth at a position, the players who don't start will transfer. I know that JB should play the bench more, but this is a challenge that programs face these days.

Yeah his poor defense is his old coach’s fault, not his current coach.

The brag about my kid’s athletic performance thread.

The ball got wedged between the rim and the backboard at my 8th grade son's basketball game last night. He casually jumped up and knocked it loose and got some of the biggest cheers of the night.

Class of 2022 PF Maliq Brown (VA) COMMITTED/SIGNED TO SYRACUSE

Power forward is the number one position of need right now so This seems like a good move to me.
  40. Conrad13

Class of 2022 C Peter Carey (MA) COMMITTED/SIGNED TO SYRACUSE

This is perfect. I love the idea of him developing for a year or two behind Jessie and Anselem and turning into a quality center over the course of his career. Even if a few don't pan out (and I think that Carey will be good) stockpiling athletic big men is a smart strategy.

    Rome, Italy

Thanks. Unfortunately I am stuck with the school vacation calendar so just about anywhere we wanted to go suffered from complaints of being over crowded. I have been to Rome before and I am optimistic that with some planning we'll be able to manage the crowds. We found a house where we can...

Class of 2022 Jai Smith (Ludden / NC)

College basketball is my favorite sport, but I am very cool with this decision. No need to force kids into playing college ball if they're not interested.
  44. Conrad13

    Jesse Edwards returning

I have high hope too. He had flashes in his freshman year where he showed some offensive skills, and there were some games in the tourney this year when his defense was pretty darn good. A lot of it was just being in the right place and being tall, but it was effective.

Jimmy and Buddy to be on Packer and Durham at 830.

The only thing better would be if Dad had to tell them to knock it off.

    Rome, Italy

We're looking into Rome and the Amalfi coast next summer. We're having a hard time picking where we want to stay on the coast. Positano looks beautiful but it might be a bit too touristy. We'll have three generations of good travelers who will want to spend a little time at the beach but mostly...

    John Bol is likely staying

Based on the very small sample size that I have seen, I would guess no. Frank is the better player.
  48. Conrad13

    John Bol is likely staying

Given the fact that he's a great kid, I think that this is a great thing, especially for this coming season. He's also bound to start the return wave of players in the transfer portal. Kadary and Quincy, you're up!
