Andre Szmyt waived by Chicago/playing for UFL Battlehawks

Writing was on the wall when Cairo Santos was still kicking late into the 4th quarter of their preseason game.

    2023 Preseason Camp Thread

Seems strange because I remember most of Long's looks during the Spring game were over the middle routes. Adams still looks the most promising on deep balls.

    Predictions on starting defense

Dream scenario of Clark moving to corner, so that we can play another safety, like Gould or Oliver, doesn't seem to be happening.

Class of 2019 DB Myles Farmer (GA) TRANSFERRING FROM NEBRASKA TO SYRACUSE (8/13/23)

That was his 2nd violation since Rhule arrived though; the 1st was a DUI, which is far from minor. Winning is more important, and this kid is bigger/better than other safety alternatives, I guess. But, have that feeling of another Dino Babers bad judgment potentially; a la, hiring your...

    Sean Tucker: Buccaneers

Sean has to stick. It would crush me if our potential Heisman candidate, can't beat out this ridiculously bad running back room.

I wonder what the "NIL" total amount for that '96 UK team that Pope was on was?

Shrader and CDRW both seem to have better/cleaner throwing motions, imo. Guessing/hoping that is Beck's influence.

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

That game still makes my blood boil. That Travis run along the sideline, after pretending to go out... Obvious hold on Wax. I'm still hoping for Novell to not know what to do with all the talent. But, I get the sinking feeling it's like wishing for Hurley's coaching to submarine the Huskies...

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

They are pinning their hopes on that UNC thumbs their nose at the SEC, and joins the higher academic quality B1G. Then, SEC still wants a North Carolina presence, and voila.

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

And, the last 20 years hasn't exactly helped the cause. For my college experience; Syracuse locals, right down to the barber that cut my hair, claimed to support only a winner. For all the inclement weather in CNY, most fans are fair weather ones, just like most everywhere else.

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

What hurts College football in the NorthEast is the creation of a fan base, compared to the MidWest and SouthEast, in my opinion. Yes, many more colleges and universities in the Northeast, but they tend to be much smaller. Every year, these big land grant schools are pumping out more alumni, and...

    2023 Preseason Camp Thread

Yeah absolutely, Hatcher can be high level wr for us even at his current weight. I was just watching preseason NFL lately, and was thinking that a NFL 6'3" receiver probably needs to be in the 200lb range.

Class of 2019 DB Myles Farmer (GA) TRANSFERRING FROM NEBRASKA TO SYRACUSE (8/13/23)

They also got that D-Lineman that flipped on Signing Day; but yeah, think we still came out ahead.

Suspension to arrive, just as Harbaugh leaves for the NFL.

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

FSU can pound salt. I usually always cheer for ACC teams when they step out of Conference, but the Noles no longer. They are now, and until they leave, public enemy #1, in my book. Having said that, they'll now probably win the National Championship.

    Terrence Roberts

Hats off to you for doing those kind of miles on streets, even if they have bike lanes. My miles are almost all on bike trails; you can travel all over Los Angeles and Orange County on dedicated bike paths. But, have still seen crazy motorcycle and even cars on them. Have only gone down once...

    Terrence Roberts

As a person that rides his bike roughly 400 miles/month, definitely strikes home. But also, sad if a long time professional basketball player can't afford $8K medical bill.

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

Yeah, as a Non-P5 school, Uconn probably wouldn't receive a full share immediately. You're right about that.

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

No, joining the Big 12 in all sports, gets $30/yr.

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

It would be a tough pill for basketball, for sure. But, 30 million/year, and Conference matchups versus Kansas, Arizona, and Baylor would be sexy. Very different from being in the AAC.
  23. Cuse'91

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

Yeah, with the addition of the Four Corners schools, seems like non-football Big 12 members is a dead horse. They're a large enough Conference already, and can now afford to be picky.

    2023 Roster / Staff

Wow, very positive. The kid looked extremely unhappy during the Spring game; and was off by himself, like a pariah, most of the game. Seems like a positive result for both parties. "Only" 2 scholarship punters, yippy!

I can see your point of view; I kinda feel the same way, as an alum. But, I think you're wearing Orange colored glasses. I'll give you an example - My parents are both over 80 years old, and they watch Olympic sports on the B1G and SEC networks. They watch because of the big state school names...

ND should pay to have access to the olympic sports

ND is required to play what, 5 ACC schools per year? That's a fallacy; because they would, at a minimum, play 2-3 current ACC opponents anyway. So they get their Olympic sports teams in the conference of their choice, for 2 extra ACC football games per season? No, that's too big a bargain. Sure...

  39. Cuse'91

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

Ah, I get you. I'm presuming that the addition will mean more revenue, that will offset additional costs for travel. Like partial shares for the new comers, and a higher likelihood of increased payout at the next ESPN lookin.
  40. Cuse'91

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

Yes, one trip per sport, although some may not need to play out West in a given year. It's a lot, but probably only 10%, compared to the amount Stanford and Cal have to deal with.
  41. Cuse'91

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

The crazy thing is that's it's basically 1 trip to the West coast for us, and the rest of the ACC. I mean why not do it? If anything, it's Cal and Stanford that will suffer horribly in travel ordeals and costs.

Our parachute comes from SEC or Big 12 wanting Northeast presence; B1G is out for us. In the Notre Dame protocol - B1G waits for them to finally join, and they are coupled with a Stanford. Hope to see how all this plays out, someday.

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

The 4 most at risk ACC schools are absolutely Syracuse, Duke, Boston College, and Wake Forest. B1G - UNC, UVA, GT, Miami SEC - FSU, Clemson, NC State, VTech Big 12 - Louisville, Pitt

I'm guessing the ones that aren't out with injury, will all see the field. McDonald and Roon seem prone to getting dings.

Have they sat back and done nothing though? The SEC probably started this phase of realignment with taking Texas and Oklahoma from the Big 12.
