ND Contract with NBC Extended to 2029

Every NBC/ND deal since 1991 had been for five years until the current deal (10 yrs). This one is the standard five year deal.

Here is what Jim Phillips said the other day about this issue: (From Hokie Mark's blog) Q: Will Notre Dame play Stanford annually in addition to the 5-game ACC rotation? A: No. The contract is clear - 5 games per year, average. The 3 new schools will simply join the rotation. When asked if...

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

Not at all. Sorry. What is silly about self determination and free choice? What I find silly is all this conference realignment BS and the idea of "forcing" a school to join a supposedly voluntary group of schools.

ND voluntarily left Hockey East. Jack Swarbrick complained about the difficulty in traveling to out of the way Hockey East schools in New England. "Notre Dame is preparing to leave Hockey East for the Big Ten in the 2017-18 season, sources told USCHO on Tuesday. The school joined Hockey...

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

ND came into the ACC in 2012 telling everyone loud, often and up front that football would not be included. Swofford knew it and was quoted in the press saying so. The school presidents all knew this when they voted ND in. ND told the Big East that in 1995, as well. Same story. ND will do...

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

I have heard "THIS will force ND into a conference" for thirty years now. All were wrong. Wake me up when ND actually is forced in real life, as opposed to message board fantasies.

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

Are conferences voluntary organizations, or not? An interesting concept, that of forcing a school to join (against its will) a supposedly voluntary grouping of other schools. Seems a bit contradictory. That, and tyrannical to boot.

All incoming schools to the ACC would have to sign the existing GOR. It would not affect the GOR regarding the existing ACC schools.

    ACC Spring Meetings

Every school is always about its own interests. Did Syracuse leave the Big East for the ACC to help others like UConn and USF, or did Syracuse leave the Big East to promote its own best interests?
  19. TerryD

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

Of course not. ND signs contracts with those conferences, then fulfils the terms. Nothing more. The Big East had 15 other members and the ACC has 14. Both existed well before ND joined them. For some reason, the cause of the demise of these conferences is not the mismanagement and lack of...

ND signed five year deals with NBC from the initial 1991 deal until renewing the 2010 deal in 2013. It then signed a ten year deal running from 2016-2025. The original 1991 deal was for $9 million a year.

If the ACC deal in 2020 had not happened and the ACC refused to play ND at all, then ND would have had to cobble together a totally independent schedule. It would have been dog meat, but irrelevant after 2020. A one year blip on the screen. Joining the ACC and tying ND football up in knots...

ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

That was a business deal that benefited both the ACC and ND. That was also a one year deal. That is not sufficient to for ND football to anchor itself to a dying ACC long term. Sorry. ND didn't cause the ACC's problems, the ACC did. ND has no duty to harm itself to save the ACC...from itself.

Reading is fundamental. Brian Kelly didn't kill anyone either. Weather conditions did. It was an accident. The parents were pleased with how ND handled it afterwards. Ask them. Brian Kelly was hired by LSU with full knowledge of this. I am sure their fans would love your take on him.

I can only think of one, Jack Coan last year. In 2020, Ian Book was the starting QB. This year, it was Tyler Buchner (until hurt) and Drew Pyne. Both were recruited by ND out of high school.

ND is Southern Cal's top rival. Have been for almost 100 years. It is the top regular intersectional rivalry game in the country. They have played every year since 1926 except 1942 and 2020. Southern Cal (and Stanford) killed a Pac 12 deal to play Big Ten teams a few years ago because they...

What happened to college football in the Northeast?

Not at all. I am saying your two "facts" are pretty much bullshit. Even if true, are you saying that Syracuse football is so fragile that those two things 25 years apart destroyed it? Come on, man. If that is all you have, you have nothing at all.

What happened to college football in the Northeast?

So, ND promoted one of its players for the Heisman 35 years ago. Do you have any links to this "conspiracy" or is this just Syracuse Urban Legend? Does ND have any friends at Holy Cross? They have zero relationship with each other. Was Holy Cross somehow prohibited from promoting Lockbaum...

You guys are funny. Texas, Oklahoma, USC, UCLA, Oregon...even Syracuse, BC, Pitt...all changed conferences for more money and better status, but they all get a pass? Its all cool and good, just smart business, but if ND does it the Irish are singled out as "whoring"? Ironic.
