2023 East Coast Rosters and Where Players Call Home

Never said you’re an idiot. Ever. I wouldn’t. It’s just not my point of view. There’s no nuance to in that either. Return You picked an arbitrary number and then based your entire analysis and conclusion on it. I suggested that you might consider using 250 as your arbitrary and therefore...

2023 East Coast Rosters and Where Players Call Home

I grew up in North Jersey and now live in Central (yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus) Jersey. I can’t deny that I too don’t love a 7-8 hour round trip in a day, so that’s fair, but I think for me “backyard” is more concept or state of mind than geographic criteria. By your argument, and to...

2023 East Coast Rosters and Where Players Call Home

That discredits the area’s preference for pro sports, as well as its transient population due to major metropolises like Boston, Philly, and NYC. I happen to feel the makeup of the student body and then the larger congregation spots of alumni define the backyard. General fandom while not...

2023 East Coast Rosters and Where Players Call Home

Also, I think your analysis suggests that schools with a greater percentage closer to “home” do better on the field, which I don’t think was your goal with this. I also think there are other factors, like Tallahassee is 480 miles from Miami, but that’s in state, and aid/tuition may factor into...

2023 East Coast Rosters and Where Players Call Home

I think your range is off. I would say 250 mile radius is the back yard. That’s a 4 hour drive. That’s the entire state of PA east or west for PSU. That’s, “don’t fly, it’s not worth it” range. That said, I fly to Boston all the time and that’s about 240 miles away. Most of the SU student...

    Did I hear Sala correctly

It's depth, not width. People need to get past the seats in a fire situation and the aisle where you put feet/knees is not wide enough perpendicular to the front of the seat with whatever was designed (either the seat back leans too far into that aisle, or the front, or a combo of the two). This...

    Identity vs Due Diligence: Northeast

I think this is an odd post for your point and I don't think I am alone in that. For starters, I believe I understand your point. As I interpret it, players aren't better in the NE because they are from the NE. 4 and 5 stars can be found in other regions too. There is a greater number of 4 and 5...

    Identity vs Due Diligence: Northeast

Not true. I am from NJ and I can get to campus in 4 hours. Just like Boston, Just like Maryland (I used to live in DC) and Penn State is about 5 hours. That is reality.

    2024 Success in Major Jeopardy

Did he really make a comment about this!? That is so great! Unfortunately for Coach Fran, it seems there have not been a lot of people empowered to make such decisions or take on these initiatives. He will need to find a leader who can co-create and focus on a vision for the game-day experience...

Are the tunnels still there!? I would be surprised if they were left post demo of Archbold Stadium. I believe there was a mini collider or some other physics lab under the north bleachers of Archbold (or a rad lab) but I’m not sure of the validity of that.

Lateral load on the foundation/sub grade walls. If you excavate, you would have to sheet and shore both the dome and Archi to dig, then you would have to add permanent reinforcement to leave it “unexcavated”. That’s what the famous World Trade Center “bath tub” is.

So maybe he IS being downgraded because he plays at a private. Maybe Rivals is saying he’s a 5 star anywhere other than Texas! The whole thing is a mess. I look forward to seeing him in Syracuse Orange, (where he still won’t be as good as he looks or his stats say because the ACC isn’t the...

Class of 2025 OL/DL Matthew Hawn (NY: CBA) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (4/1/2024)

I think the problem was that most folks here focused on the wrong region. We’re not going to build that base with CNY players and that was all I heard 5 years ago. I said in Shafer days and Dino days it had to be NJ and everyone said it was overrated and owned by selector schools. Part of that...

IF the ACC breaks up, what are the likely outcomes for Syracuse?

College supports all the sports. This is like NFL owners also being MLB and NBA owners. Do you think they will not support any other team they are putting something into? Do you not assume there would be some sort of “profit share” amongst sports? This is why conferences exist in the first...

Syracuse Looking to Fill DJ and Host Roles for 2024 Season

I am pretty much with you here (and also an old man). I think our gameday experience" team is not understanding the differences between a basketball experience and a football experience. I think part of the point is that the Mona Lisa isn’t the jersey, it’s the game. I don’t know the stats off hand, but assuming it was a masterpiece of a performance, then the jersey is the equivalent of the smock da Vinci wore when he painted it.

Always felt off to me, but I’m a Jersey guy watching a game that NJ is strong in, in NJ. You’re OK with Sabotage? That came out when the team was the Metrostars playing in Giants Stadium! Song to break out of tunnel to pump everyone up...

A couple of thoughts (in part because this topic has been turned over sooo many times here): 1) Lots of schools have traditional introductions/"taking the field" and most are not based on contemporary pop music or culture (ND, OSU, Miami are a few that immediately come to mind) 2) If we worry...

Song to break out of tunnel to pump everyone up...

The fight song exists for entirely this reason. If we want to give it a refresh, I am on board, but there should not be another song “to break out of the tunnel” with. What leads up to that is another matter. Many here have tried and failed to gain any kind of consensus.
