    Remembering Tommy Smith

I don’t come around much anymore for various reasons but a friend forwarded the post above to me. So sad to hear of Tommy’s passing. I have know him since we competed against each other in middle school and beyond. We only played together one summer at the Empire State games but continued to...

Breeze Airways announces non-stop service from SYR to Vegas and Charleston

I’ve flown breeze a couple of time and have enjoyed the airline. I didn’t love the 6a flight from Charleston to Syracuse on a Monday but it was a great way to end a weekend trip to Charleston. I would spend the extra money to upgrade your seat if it is within budget. The seats in the back lack...

    DC v SU

Mark Albert owned 44s in the 90s. I think i spent 23 straight nights there my sophomore year. My roommate was one of the bartenders and i had a handful of friends that worked there over the years. I am not sure if he sold it, or Konrads was opened in the same location in early 2000s. Konrads was...

The roots of the original sport helmet cascade was actually in Whitewater rafting, hence the name cascade. I actually had one of their white water helmets with a half shield attached for men’s league hockey for a few years when they were designing the orignal Cascade lacrosse helmet. Definitely...

    Men's Soccer (3) SU 2 vs (13) Indiana 2 (PK's 7-6): Mon Dec 12, 6 PM [NCAA National Championship]

This is a revenge game for 1987. How often do you get to play the same school for your first national championship in two different sports. This time the Hoosiers go down. Let’s go Orange. Keith Smart isn’t walking thru that door!

Stunned that Cornell is off the schedule. Some of my best memories are Cuse Cornell games (and 1996 ncaa) in Ithaca. I have been behind pretty much all of Gary’s moves to this point but this one stings. Glad we still play Hop and Bart.

    2022 Fall Ball

Fine, most of the knee down technique is driven by goaliesmith. They are the foremost training ground for current goalies. They started pushing this idea around 2016/2017. So while a couple goalies may have occasionally dropped for a shot, it is really taken off in the last 5 years with the...

    2022 Fall Ball

Your theories on goaltending techniques are outdated. Current techniques have goalies getting their bodies low and placing a knee or two on the ground to have as much surface area low to stop the ball. It goes against a lot of pre-covid teaching but it works.

Class of 2023 Stephen Finnell (NY: Garden City) Mid / Flipped to Duke

New Volunteer Assistant Coach: Nick Acquaviva

I’ve been watching something on the off-topic board and figure out pop by to see what was new. As for TD, this was a known during the summer that he would not be with the team this year. The recruits knew, he works for Angelo’s father, I’m sure they knew going into September 1 that he was no...

    RIP Martin Januszkiewicz

I never saw him play, but got to know him later in his life as a Syracuse lacrosse fan while his son was on the team. He was such a great guy with a huge, bellowing laugh that could be heard throughout the tailgate. First class guy and a great family.

Coach Moran was an absolute legend of the game. It is sad to see the great coaches of the 80’s pass on in recent years and it reminds me how lucky we are to still have Coach Simmons attending SU home games. My first recollection of Coach Moran was his booming Long Island accent at the Hobart...

I know I’m going to be in the minority, but I think Sixes will be an awesome version of lacrosse. Is it ncaa lacrosse, no, but for someone to say it isn’t “real” lacrosse is absurd.
