    My Take

I was in the SUMB from 2008-2012, and I would say back then it was 80-20% SU vs non-SU students, including ESF, Lemoyne, and OCC.

    Kenny Smith just called Buddy

There have been better players, and more consistent shooters, but for my mind, James Southerland had one of the best looking shots of any recent SU player.

Alabama: 5 players tested Positive for COVID

FWIW, my small rural school in the middle of nowhere, Ohio (Ohio Northern University, 3k student enrollment) is in the middle of our second week, and have had 3 positive, unrelated cases out of 729 tests. They have been pretty aggressive with reducing building capacity, and creating/following...

The all-inclusive Rutgers dumpster fire thread...

What I don't understand, is why would Schiano want to go back in the first place? He's a coordinator for one of the best programs in football, and is paid like it. He will get a better job offer than rutgers, once another big program decides to hold its nose and ignore the penn st stuff. He...

Anyone who criticizes this performance should be banned

It really sucks to lose such a winnable game, but if anything I am more encouraged by this game, not less. This is the type of game where you see the difference between a top 5 program and a program that is trying to rebuild. Clemson has 4 and 5 star recruits all across their roster. When it...

Sean McDonough, Todd Blacklidge, Holly Rowe on the call for Syracuse-Clemson

I will never forget him, Raftery, and Bilas calling the 6 OT game.

The all-inclusive Rutgers dumpster fire thread...

For me it has to do with the interactions that we had with their fans back when we shared a conference. I was at SU from 2008-2012, which had both the nadir of syracuse football in the last Greg Robinson year, and the prime Schiano years at Rutgers. During that time I was also much more active...

That Power Run/Tight End Offense Sure Does Suck

Coaching makes bad talent look mediocre, and good talent look championship worthy. Still, give HCSS the same talent that they have at tOSU or Oregon, and Syracuse would be at minimum 9-3.

    SU -9 vs CMU

I know nothing about betting, but this seems to be what happened to me. Casual fan sees CMU beating Purdue, and Syracuse (who most casual fans still associate with being Grob bad) barely beating a DII school. Then, they see a line of -9, and they think easy money. Hell, I bet if you went to...

    Marrone Giving Back to SU

People are acting like he left us for a d2 school or something. An NFL job is an NFL job, and outside of about 5 or so gigs in cfb, that is a better job. I was sad and disappointed when he left, but I understand why he did.

    A Little Unexpected Warrick Love...

The thing I love about the ND dunk is that the defender didn't bite on the fake, so Warrick just said F it and dunked over him anyways.

    OT: Tailgate preferences

When I go down to Texas to visit my family every year, I make sure to drink copius amounts of Shiner. On topic, my go to for crappy light beer is Labatt. Its relatively cheap, and I consider it a (small) step above bud light. Don't get me wrong, I have no issue pounding down crappy beer. But...

    Dear american football...

Preface: The only time I've ever watched soccer was the USMNT. I think that one of the biggest factors regarding soccers growth now and in the future that hasn't been mentioned much in this thread is media accessibility. If you look back even 10 years ago, I imagine it would have been very...

Boeheim #12 is ESPN Top 50 Coaches Countdown

From Nunes/Brent Axe's article on the rankings: I think that Boeheim should be ahead of all the guys who haven't won a title, and it isn't even due to title vs. no. I just think he's a better coach then all four. Boeheim has accomplished more than pretty much all 4 combined, and it isn't...

Between your former BE mates WVU and UConn

What I can't stand about the WVU fanbase is that they have a superiority complex, despite being decidedly mediocre the past several years. Before we played them in the Pinstripe bowl a couple of years ago, if you went by their message boards, you would think that it was Alabama playing Akron or...

Greatest Jim Boeheim press comment of all time...

I had heard the story/seen the clip of the punch, but the 30 for 30 was the first time I had actually seen the press conference. JB likes to hide behind his snark, but in that clip, you could both see and hear the true anger that he felt about that game.

Where does the SU student section rank in the ACC?

Sitrus still does these, by the way. Also, I always get a kick when I can hear "You Still Suck... BALLS" after opposing made free throws on the TV broadcasts. I think it started with a few members of otto's army while I was at SU (08-12), and I always chuckle when I hear it, mainly because I...

People think our board gets out of hand?

Hell, the dookies are STILL complaining about the non-call on the dunk. No team has ever lost a game fair and square(including Syracuse =P), the refs are always to blame.
  27. M

    Gbinije

I think in a game vs. Uconn, he got borderline tackled on a layup, possibly by Stanley Robinson. He hit the hoop/ground really hard, and was slow to get up.

Loved me some KO. He wasn't afraid to mix it up with the thugs of the time, like Dajuan Blair, Greg Monroe, and Thabeet.

    Doris

Of course they do. We as SU fans aren't living and dying on every moment of when those other schools are number 1. Go to any message board after a close game with #1, and you'll find these same exact threads with other teams.
  32. M

    Doris

I mean, I get it. The whole point of sports commentary is to find the story within the game. Obviously, #1 losing on the road is going to be the narrative, with the commentators trying to pump up the underdog. If you were to ask fans with no rooting interest in the game, they probably didn't...

    Foul or no foul?

Look, the dunk call is usually a 50-50 call, I could easily see it being called either way. But half the internet is acting like it was a sure fire, can't-miss call, which I think is stupid. If you watch it live, it was really hard to tell, and even with people slowing it down significantly...

Duke board full of whining babies:

Look, the dunk no-call was questionable. But I don't see it as a "clear, obvious foul", especially when you watch it in real time. If you have to watch it in super slow-mo and use a one-frame screen shot to try and justify it, you're trying too hard.
  36. M

    Props to Dickie V

He was calling a duke game. No need to go on a tangent to mention duke when they're playing in front of him.

    McDonald's All americans to be

Recruiting is just as much "who is recruiting this player?" as it is how good they actually are. Kansas/Kentucky are recruting this guy? Must be an All-American. Syracuse has nothing to complain about recruiting wise, but it doesn't quite pull the national eye like UNC, Duke, etc.

Most clutch shooter of all time

Here's my problem with the whole clutch/choke discussion. No one remembers the random games where players don't hit the last second shot. GMac was a great player, and both the NC game and BET tourney moments were awsome. But for every "clutch" moment he had, you could probably go through his...

Most underrated player on the team Rak Christmas

I think that both defend the post differently, and JB touched on that some in one of his pressers (think it was after BC.) Rak is a better positional defender and at guarding straight up without fouling. Keita is very good at recovering to affect shots on the baseline after coming up to the...

    Why no OTTO or cheerleaders?

First off, Otto is 3-4 people, not just one. They switch off about every half, because the suit is very hot. Secondly, Otto is a full volunteer position. The ottos have to go through auditions and weeks of training, and get absolutely nothing from the school, not even the gear that the...

Best SU team of this new "Golden Age"?

That team was also actually pretty mediocre-poor defensively. Flynn and Devo were both short and prone to not playing defense. Harris was a very good rebounder, but frequently got caught out of position on the wing. Our best defensive forward (as opposed to center) was probably actually Kristof.

    My Take

FYI, the band has water waiting in cups/igloos ready for us after pregame/half time. Also, we typically got $35/day when traveling. Still, appreciate the kind words/actions towards the SUMB. Also, Goode Company is delicious. I have a bunch of family in Houston, and we go there every time we...

13 games, zero 100 yard rushers

I mean, it's a nice stat, but the only reason FSU, Clemson, and GT didn't have one is because they had 2-3 guys with 90ish yards.
