The phrase that scares me is “strategic investments.” That’s buzzwordy for “not much to spend and need to make the most of it.” We know that’s the reality and it’s limiting…but so will the potential hires. The hire could be great but I would guess they won’t jump off the page as super exciting.

Leaking finalists is dangerous as it could make other interested parties step up their pursuit of some of those guys…and I don’t think we want anyone who wouldn’t be attractive to others.

This could be preferable. Better to be in the mix, have them not ascend at their first choice and be on the list for transfer zone when they might actually be ready to start right away. The alternative is they come here not ready to contribute but leave after a season.
