You take anyone that could be a QB and let them fight it out. The guys that lose out can change positions or transfer e.g. Shrader and Villari.

That's true. But they were still QB2 on the roster. And there have been other QB2's that have stepped in for teams. Good recruiters can find a solid back up QB.

It matters if he's good enough. Dungey was QB2 at first. In 1990 Mcdonald was QB2 when Graves got hurt. Clemson has had a couple QB2's get us a couple times.

It's both. The women's game was at an all-time high because of Clark, and the popularity of the men has eroded for a number of reasons that include lack of familiarity due to hired guns and NBA draft early entries.

No, but they were full of non-stars. There weren't any 3 years guys that are expected to be sure fire NBA stars or guys that have dominated the sport for three or four years.

And probably too recent. No championship until this century and our first FF was 1975 with big gaps in between the others. I'd love to get back to that next tier that were on in 2012.

Too much recency bias here. They been to 4 FFs since the turn of the century including 3 in a row and then one as recently as 3 years ago.

If it's about OG successful programs, how is UCLA not one? They made their first FF before Duke (1962). The year Duke made their first FF, UCLA won their first NC (1964). Duke didn't win their first NC until 1991. They've won the most NC's and have made FF's during every era under numerous coaches.

I don't consider that relevant. If Red was trying to maintain everything JB did it would be. He isn't. He has made changes immediately, and he's digging us out of a deeper hole than Hurley had to. 3 years is reasonable.

Even so, it was a program with recent relevancy. Even Hurley came in with more recent program relevancy than Red and it took him 3 years to get to the tournament. It happens different for everyone. People need to realize we aren't viewed the way we were a decade ago. Freeman is a great start...

And that PF was smallish for the position, which makes it even more impressive we hung around as much as we did. Get a penetrating and distributing pg and a threat in the post, and we're looking good next year.

I can respect a team's greatness and hate them a the same time. It's just a bit depressing because of where we are right now. I hate that we have nearly the same number of FF's yet they've converted 5 to NC's and gave a chance at another.

Yeah, but do I expect a tournament team that wasn't on the bubble or a top 10 team? We have to wait to see how the roster shakes out before we can have an expectation.

I imagine, if we have a comfortable lead, we may not see whichever QB is in that game throw a pass. HCFB seems like the type that will choose to run the other team into submission until the clocks hit zero.
