Any other pools of note out there?

ESPN has so many almost impossible to win and the prize pool is really 3 winners and nothing else..

Some sites like DK have actually better winnings since it will have less people and more prizes.

with so many opt outs some other pools have lost their luster since they are confidence pools with early locks.

39 41 43 entrants so far.

storange and Obie9 take the lead after this season's opening bowl game.
Only 4 people picked Georgia Southern.

After the opening weekend, here is the current top of the standings.
Games resume tomorrow, Tuesday, Thursday (Go Orange!) and Friday before the 7-game Saturday.

That Old Dominion loss was ridiculous. Thankfully it was only a 6 pointer.

Guess I shouldn't have put 43 confidence points on Syracuse!

After seeing Nunzio’s presser, I upped my bet from 7 to 10. It’s cost me a place thus far.

WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER! What’s my prize??

You get to pick last next year.

From my last "The Undefeated":

Let’s do the playoff, the Pesci Bowl and the Ty-D-Bol using the 5-line system of comparative scores I outlined in my post “Fun with Numbers”.

The Playoff

MICHIGAN 13-0 (477-123) ranked: 1/1/1 ART: +91 vs. ALABAMA 12-1 (456-239) ranked 5/4/4 ART +107

MICHIGAN vs. ALABAMA
Michigan beat East Caolina 30-3 who lost to Tulane 10-13 who lost to Mississippi 20-37 who lost to Alabama 10-24 = +7 for Alabama
Michigan beat Nevada-Las Vegas 35-7 who beat Vanderbilt 40-37 who lost to Kentucky 28-45 who lost to Alabama 21-49 = +14 for Alabama
Michigan beat Bowling Green 31-6 who beat Georgia Tech 38-27 who lost to Georgia 23-31 who lost to Alabama 24-27 = +25 for Michigan
Michigan beat Rutgers 31-7 who beat Temple 36-7 who lost to South Florida 23-27 who lost to Alabama 3-17 = +35 for Michigan
Michigan beat Nebraska 45-7 who beat Louisiana Tech 28-14 who lost to Middle Tennessee State 23-31 who lost to Alabama 7-56 = +5 for Alabama
- 7 - 14 + 25 + 35 – 5 = +34 for Michigan /5 = 6.8 so Michigan wins by 6-7 points. I found this score: MICHIGAN 24 ALABAMA 17

WASHINGTON 13-0 (490-307) ranked: 2/2/2 ART: +93 vs. TEXAS 12-1 (470-228) ranked: 3/4/3 ART: +109
Washington beat Boise State 56-19 who lost to Central Florida 16-18 who lost to Kansas State 31-44 who lost to Texas 30-33 = +19 for Washington
Washington beat Tulsa 43-10 who lost to Oklahoma 17-66 who beat Texas 34-30 = +12 for Texas
Washington beat Michigan State 41-7 who lost to Iowa 16-26 who beat Iowa State 20-13 who lost to Texas 16-26 = +21 for Washington
Washington beat California 59-32 who lost to Auburn 10-14 who lost to Alabama 24-27 who lost to Texas 24-34 = +10 for Texas
Washington beat Oregon 36-33 who beat Texas Tech 38-30 who lost to Texas 7-57 = +39 for Texas
+19 -12 +21 -10 -39 = +21 for Texas /5 = 4.2 so Michigan wins by 4-5 points. I found this score: TEXAS 31 WASHINGTON 27.

MICHIGAN vs. TEXAS
Michigan beat Nebraska 45-7 who lost to Colorado 14-36 who beat Texas Christian 45-42 who lost to Texas 26-29 = +16 for Michigan
Michigan beat Michigan State 49-0 who lost to Washington 7-41 who, (In my semi-finals, above) lost to Texas 27-31 = +11 for Michigan
Michigan beat Penn State 24-15 who beat to West Virginia 38-15 who beat Texas Tech 20-13 who lost to Texas 7-57 = +11 for Texas
Michigan beat Iowa 26-0 who beat Iowa State 20-13 who lost to Texas 16-26 = +23 for Michigan
Michigan beat Alabama 24-17, (in my semi-final, above) who lost to Texas 24-34 = +3 for Texas
+16 +11 -11 + 23 -3 = +36 for Michigan/ 5 = 7.2 for Michigan wins between 7-8 points. I found this score: MICHIGAN 24 TEXAS 17

I had the wrong winner in one semi-final but the right one in the end.

Ugh. I had a frustrating scenario. Same entry was second place in two competitions. The other one was for money and I had to make up ground so needed to switch pick to the underdog. Unfortunately that has to carry over here where I would have been better served to keep Michigan the pick. I’ll separate my entries next year!

YES! Thats what I wanted!! Sweet.

Thanks for organizing this pool every year.

When I was at SU my roommates and I used to wager the 2nd semester cable bill on a bowl pick em contest. It was not as sophisticated with the confidence picks and the internet that we have now. We taped our picks next to our tv on small road on South campus so they could not be altered. The results were scored when we returned from break.

The winner would be able to gloat for the rest of the school year that they are watching their free cable. I am not sure current students could even make this bet today as the cost for cable if they have it is too high or they don't even watch cable television. Do they pay for internet on campus?

Needless to say it was fun and participating in this contest is fun as it always brings back great memories! Thanks to whomever sets it up
