so we have 2 spots open for '15. the natural assumption is Bryant and hold a space for Battle in '16 but why not explore a 1 & done 5th year graduate transfer option?

it doesn't block anything for the future and our roster next year, even with Bryant, has a couple of places we could use a live body. the most glaring potential need is for a true PG, probably to back up KJ. Another potential spot would be a back up 3 who can shoot and help spread the floor.

I tried the intergoogle looking for a list of players out there who would qualify, but no dice.

any thoughts?

Yogi Farrell?

Ferrell is a bad fit for our defensive system. He certainly can create off the bounce and his shot has constantly improved over the course of his career. That said I don't see it happening.

Is that Moyer's spot, or are we good.

Tyler Harris announces he is leaving Prov.

he's no PG, but if we need a rotational 4...

I thought I heard that Sterling Gibbs from Seton Hall is looking to leave but I can't find where I read that. Very good player but has the blemish of his two game suspension for throwing a punch.

So does our scholarship reduction make it close to impossible for SU to bring in a non-immediately eligible transfer? Would we ever consider having a guy sit for a year & on scholarship at this point?

Cause we've had some good recent experiences lately with transfers into the system - guys like Wes Johnson & now Mike Gbinije - and there are a few intriguing names out there like:

Stanford Robinson - Soph guard (listed at 6-4, 193 lbs) transferring from Indiana. Always liked him from his high school days, where he was a 4 star prospect back at Paul VI high school in Virhttp://syracusefan.com/threads/5th-year-transfer-candidates.88942/ginia, and think Syracuse did show some interest back then, tho maybe didn't offer. Might not be great fit, though, since his shooting %s are not great & he's more a shooting guard than point guard.

Evan Payne - Soph guard (6-1, 195 lbs) transferring from Loyola Marymount. Quite the scorer, averaged 18 ppg last year! (After averaging 15.5 ppg his freshman year!) Who wouldn't be interested in those type of numbers? Decent shooting percentages...but like Robinson, Payne seems to be more like a shooting guard than a point guard, which may not be what SU is looking for. BUT DAMN, 18 points per game!

Some other nice players who will transfer (but may have to sit a year):

Nick King - Soph guard/forward (6-7, 226 lbs) transferring from Memphis. More shooting guard/forward than point guard, but pretty talented player & highly rated recruit.

RaShawn "Pookie" Powell - Soph guard (6-1, 180 lbs) transferring from Memphis. Now this guy could be intriguing...as he is a point guard, and former 4 star & top 100 recruit. Not sure what reasons are for transferring exactly & his numbers don't look too impressive, but this was his first year getting playing time, and he had some nice games in middle of season when he did get minutes.

As the possibility of adding any player who would need to sit out a year is basically close to zero (as I said in beginning), I'm sure this exercise is pretty meaningless...what, oh well, I enjoy scouting & looking for potential fits. Wish there were some more/better potential 5th year transfer options. Though, I do think Anthony Collins & Shonn Miller (even though he's a forward) are pretty interesting possibilities in that regard.

By chance, any punchers in the group? :)
