ACC releases list of players attending media days

The SEC’s done it. So have the Big 12 and Big Ten. Now, it’s another Power Five’s turn to do.

The it, as the headline suggests, is the players attending media days, which the ACC revealed to the masses Monday afternoon. The 14 teams that make up the ACC will send, along with their head coaches, two players from each of their teams to the July 21-22 event in Charlotte.

In a refreshing change, as many linebackers ( six) will be in attendance as quarterbacks (six). Four defensive linemen have been invited, three each of running backs, offensive linemen and defensive backs will take part. Interestingly, two of the three linemen are centers, while all three defensive backs are cornerbacks.

Also, for those interested, one punter is on the list — Miami’s Justin Vogel.

Below is the complete list of attendees for the 2016 ACC Media Days:

fun fact that likely only I'm interested in...

the state breakdown for the players:

FL: 9
GA: 4
PA: 3 (including 2 Syracuse)
VA: 3
MD: 2
NC: 2
AL: 1
CA: 1
SC: 1
TN: 1
WV: 1

granted, small sample but...the deep south is obviously where the most players come from, but PA-VA-MD and if we toss in NC that's a solid rep from areas where we can compete.

and with ped st continuing to take PR punches, we need to get in there good because you know jimbo, urban and the domers are.

Obviously Michigan and several other schools haven't been notified yet including our Orange!, but that's not important right now.

"Scheduled to meet reporters at 10 a.m., Thursday, Swofford likely also will detail how the
ACC/ESPN venture will cater to "cord-cutters," consumers who have abandoned traditional cable for online television services.

League officials have been plotting this rollout for weeks, and media already in Charlotte for the football media days will make for a captive audience. ACC athletic directors are meeting Wednesday in Charlotte, with a VIP reception set for that evening with bowl and TV partners -- wouldn't want to pay that bar tab.

The ACC’s pursuit of a channel was apparent from its 2014-15 tax return, which showed $624,704 paid to consulting firm Wasserman Media Group. Wasserman’s Dean Jordan has been invaluable helping the ACC in its negotiations with ESPN.

No matter the ACC's revenue projections for the channel, their reliability will be questionable."

Big question is will they release the financial terms of the new ESPN deal?

The ACC begins its media days with a major announcement in less than an hour about a future ACC Network. Needless to say, today marks one of the most significant days in conference history.

Show me the money. What are the annual payouts going forward?

Big 12 was smart to announce their expansion plans now because all they're talking about on Sirius is big 12 expansion. Not one mention of ACC media day.:bang:
