Battle 4 Atlantis Megathread (Info/Roll Call)

If anyone's a fence-sitter... make the leap. You won't regret it.

Maui last year was an amazing experience... despite horrendously long flights in each direction --- and despite breaking my nose there. (But that's another story, and I am sure you won't trip over a "Caution - Wet Floor" sign and break your nose before the tourney even starts).

Nassau is so much closer... with so much less expensive in air fare. If you've ever thought about attending one of these tourneys, this one is a no-brainer.

I need to put you in touch with my better half. Who would have thought one could be so unsure when being offered a fully paid trip to the Bahamas?

Perhaps I should offer her a trip to Alaska to visit CuseTroop instead. :)

Confirmed. Flights from Canada were surprisingly cheap. Hotel rooms, not so much. Me, my fiancee, my Dad, and my mom will be there to sit in the wave pool lazy river and watch some hoops. It will be my second time staying at the resort, but first time attending the Battle4Atlantis. Last time I was there was during All-Star weekend and I lounged poolside and talked to Hasheem Thabeet, in town because he was obviously not an all-star. Hasheem was buying drinks and what appeared to be escorts for 18 of his closest friends. This is obviously speculation and I have no evidence whatsoever and have no clue what happened after they all left the pool but that was the buzz among hotel guests sitting by the pool for a couple of days. I spoke to a reservations manager at the resort and they confirmed that you can purchase tickets to Syracuse games only. She did say you will have to stay at the resort to get tickets for individual teams. I have been in the ballroom and to be honest I can't imagine it as a 4000 seat venue. Ceilings are low so I would imagine it could get loud if they sold out. Should be a neat experience.

I would love to arrange a golf game for anyone interested? I will try and coordinate with sutomcat closer to November for some help organizing?

If I make it, I would love to join you for a round.

Well the good news out of today is that I'm IN for Atlantis. Mrs. Iommi and Little Miss Iommi will be joining me!

I'm out...I'll focus my energies on Football. I might try to make a tourney series in March.

I'm booked for the Riu next door. All inclusive package Tuesday thru Saturday. Now I'm just praying I can get tickets. It was just too expensive for me at Atlantis. I'll spend 1/3 the price and get twice as much at Riu. Just hoping I can get tickets thru SU. Hopefully some info will be released soon from the University.

Would you mind posting some details? I was looking at the Riu as well possibly. I'd like to add any information to my initial post that I can.

Anything that might be helpful such as price (if you don't mind sharing), type of room, any deals you got, etc.

Are tickets for the game available yet? I haven't been able to find them online.

I would not think until the late spring/early summer. I'll try to find out.

Is this something our esteemed DRBartlett can provide assistance with? Maybe I'll threaten to not renew my season tickets if he doesn't give some info here. :)

I paid about $2800 for two people. I booked thru AAA, the $2800 includes round trip flights, all inclusive junior suite ( which I think is just the standard room name), all food and beverages at the Riu, and also round trip airport transfers.

My flights were pretty good times as well. We depart Cuse on Tuesday at 6:18am and arrive in Nassau by 12:12pm. Departing on Saturday at 1:50pm to get back in Cuse around 11. Both flights include one stop with a short layover.

When I booked thru AAA I was able to get the airports transfers thrown in for free which was nice, because those can cost around $25-30 each way a person.

I booked back in early January, I believe the prices are a bit higher now. I checked out of curiosity on Expedia for the same days and hotel with similar flights, and it was closer to $3200 for 2 people not including the airport transfers.

I've read online that other people have stayed at the Riu and gotten tickets to all the games at the tournament, but Atlantis guests definitely seem to get priority access.

I have never stayed at Riu before, but have stayed down the road at Breezes and we liked it just fine. All inclusives are the way to go to have the most fun at the most affordable cost IMO.

If I were you, I would book sooner than later if you plan on going, especially with it being Thanksgiving week on top of this tournament.

Holy crap that seems fantastic, Tom. All the pricing I was looking at had me thinking about $5,000 for an all-inclusive and flight.

Part of me wanted to do it up a bit with a nice room and location, since I won't be going to the Bahamas often, but part of me wanted to be more prudent.

Regardless, thanks a ton for the information and I'm going to investigate further. Hoping to hear more ticket information soon from the school or elsewhere so accommodations can be made earlier than later.

I was hoping to make this happen but the stories about food prices and what not seem to put it out of reach.

Just a heads up...for people like me who will only fly Jet Blue...Flights are now available through Jan 1, 2016.

Thanks for the heads-up. These flights will fill up quickly. Especially the return flights on Saturday. (Just booked mine).

The Sat and Sun flight prices are pretty brutal
I think I might stay until Monday.

Yeah... I was shocked that there was such a huge difference in price between the weekday flights sdown... and the weekend flights back.

But Jet Blue is the original master of time and day pricing.

Do we have any idea how much game tickets will cost? Trying to price this baby out.

this means that whatever travel packages SU will put together will Not include flights, correct?

My guess is that they will include air. But it is only a guess.

I may be in with my daughter and son. Wife will have to work (retail). If we go, most likely will stay at Atlantis for the waterpark. this is all up in the air still.
