Bracketology Thread for April 27

ACC doesn't want a member that isn't Div1 in all sports and or a fellow ACC member. Adding JHU would have been to many strong team as it is the ACC beats up on each other every year adding another top 10 type team wasn't the answer. If the ACC wants to keep the AQ they could easily add another team just depends on who they are looking for.

Since the ACC doesn't do "one sport members", our only two options would be:

  • Add a 16th full time member who plays Div 1 Men's LAX
  • Hope that an existing member upgrades its' club level team to Div 1 (and figures out a way to overcome any Title IX issues that would come up).
Neither option is viable for 2016-17.

And Michigan is the only FBS school to add Men's LAX in the last 20 years. And they added both Men's and Women's LAX at the same time. Must be nice to have $$$.

This, unfortunately, sums up the issue from an administrator's point of view.
2011

Due to the expansion of the game throughout the country, there has been much more attention placed into the eventual reestablishment of the program. However, similar to the reasons for disbandment, money still remains an issue. As stated by current NC State Athletic Director Debbie Yow, “I have a personal appreciation for the sport of lacrosse. That said, I can not foresee a time when we would voluntarily add any sport. The current 23 varsity sports need and deserve our attention and financial support.”

Not that much different than Maryland, though, IMO.
