Class of 2016 C Omer Yurtseven (Turkey) Transfer from NC State to Georgetown

Qualifying this kid could be tough. Has to be considered.

Yes. Though I don't have any info on how their situations might compare, it makes me think of the amateurism issue Enes Kanter faced at UK a few years back.

That's the fear. Or another Fab scenario where his eligibility is like a spin of the roulette wheel, and we don't have him for the tourney.

This is what I thought but remember Kanter did get to practice with the team all season and then he went to the NBA. We have an open ship so worst case scenario it would tie up a ship for a season to get a grade A practice player and take a possible spot for Thompson. I think its worth the risk especially with Thompson doing who knows what and eligibility being an issue that isn't any sort of violation.

So how does he prove to the NCAA he didn't receive payment from his former team?

Can we get this in orange, please:

I actually had that shirt!! I think an ex took it back in the day. I miss it. The shirt, her, not so much

Omer looks agile enough to play the 4. Though it would only happen in spurts, can you imagine the shot-blocking with a Lydon-Chukwu-Yurtseven back line? Holy stuff...

Opponents would have no trouble getting great looks on corner 3s against that defense.

Probably true, but they better hope that they don't miss because no way are they getting the rebound. :)

Do you really think Yurt would be that much slower than Roberson? The other 2/3 of the lineup will play quite a bit.

Kid has a nice jump hook and pretty good footwork. Showed pretty good hands on the video a couple times. Definitely an upgrade from Coleman and who knows what Chukwu or Chino are really capable of? Looks to be a good shot blocker with long arms and positioning. Pack another 20# on him. Offer him and if he doesn't sign immediately, get Ricky P on the horn and get the numbers for the upstate "escorts" to seal the deal.

He plays for a club team but does not start. The team has offered a contract. Suppose that he has only received expenses, would he be eligible? Staff must think that he has a good chance of being cleared but they might be going out on a limb thinking that he is worth the risk.

Just to clarify, I am not against taking someone like Yurtseven. He looks like a great prospect. I just don't like the idea of bringing in a kid with one foot out the door. I don't want to see chemistry issues on a team with Final Four written all over it.

so, you mean like every other school that is trying to win a national championship?

If you've read the entire thread, particularly that exchange early on, you would get the full context of my thoughts. I had watched a video and he didn't look like he would be an immediate contributor, and that is why I would have preferred not to bring in a kid who was not ready to contribute that has one foot out of the door. However, it must have been an old video, because after seeing more of him, he looks like he would be quite an addition.
