The real up-side to this season is the emergence of some young pitchers in Greene and Betances and even Whitely regardless of his being sent down. Tanaka of course is phenomenal if his arm recovers fully and he can throw that splitter. bI think the spitter is the pitch that puts the most strain on his elbow. Thats something the pitching coaches will need to determine and adjust or Tanaka needs to develop another pitch. Perhaps a change up or a curve. He has the fast ball/slider already
