Class of 2015 Derrick Jones

Man, I hope they're right and that he shows the ability to play the 2, put it on the floor, shoot and defend on the perimeter more at the next level. What a 2 he would make.
Imho I see him strictly as a wing. Probably will be 6'8 when he enters college. Just need to hit the weight room and develop some skills outside of the post. I think he can be a mix of Wes and Grant.

D. Jones receives all-city honors in Philly.

From the article:
"* Derrick Jones, Archbishop Carroll: Would dunk on you as soon as look at you. A 6-6 forward high on the national-recruiting radar. Long-armed, great shot-blocker with a soft touch around the basket and a nose for the putback dunk. Also a serious rebounder. Scored 183 points in 13 CL games for 14.1 per. Overall, scored 445 points in 28 games (15.9). Owns 1,065 career points."

Great rebounding effort this year and blocked a bunch of shots. If, like Francis mentions, he ends up 6'7-6'8, a Wes Johnson type, sign this dude!

He has been offerred so does that mean if he wants to come to SU , SU will agree to take his LOI? So why are board members writing"take him". Its up to him if he has an offer correct? He's too good for SU? Only good enough for the selector schools like KU Uk NC Arizona.?

You're right. Theoretically, it's up to him. But although we offered, both parties could have moved on by now.

Just about every offer is contingent on other things.

We are offering you a scholarship contingent on you becoming eligible to enroll with your incoming class. Note that we are taking one small forward in your class and we have offered several players who play that position. We will take the first one who commits to us. If someone else beats you to the punch, your scholarship offer is null and void.

Etc.

Give me 24 hours please. I have to talk to the wife!

Oh... thank you.

Word on Mr. Jones?

A class of Lydon, Richardson, Howard, Bryant and Jones...

Is that possible? We're down to 9 schollies right now right?

That class is oozing with potential.

We currently have 10 scholorship players without Grant and Ennis:
C - Rak, DC2, Obokoh
F - Roberson, BJ Johnson, McCollough
G - Joseph, Cooney, Patterson, Gbinije
That means 4 is the maximum that we can take for the 2015 class, not 5.

Rak is graduating in 2015.

Derrick Jones is still learning how to play: Derrick Jones will never lose a dunk contest.
Ever.
Period.
He’s the freakiest of freak athletes that you are going to come across. I’d give 5-to-1 odds that he’ll give himself a concussion by hitting his head on the rim at least once in his career, and the fact that he’s 6-foot-8 with long arms only makes him that much more impressive.
The issue is that the rest of his game is still developing. His ball-handling, his ability to shoot the ball, developing his slender frame. His ceiling is limitless, but he’s got a way to go before he reaches that ceiling. Until then, just don’t try to jump with him.

So wait is he 6'8'' now? Or has a 6'8'' wingspan?

Jones will be a superstar. Whether we get him or not, this kid is a freak.
