He started out with his fastball but reversed the normal strategy and began using his breaking pitches to set up his fastball and started striking people out. He got 16 swings and misses, compared to 2 for DeGrom. Very impressed that a 23 year old pitcher could make an adjustment like that and get stronger as the game went on.
It also helped that the Mets bats woke up.
To my mind the Mets need a sweep in New York to break even. it will be tough but you want to go back to KC up 3-2, not down 2-3.
