Class of 2015 DT David Ryslik (NJ) Committed to UConn

I really like this kid but have to wonder where he is in the pecking order. Depending on how many DT's we take (2 or 3) he might be down the list a little further. Have to assume Jamal Milan, and Wes Annan who are scheduled to visit are higher, and Austrian Robinson, who we have been trying to get on campus forever is above Ryslik as well. Not sure if he's camping, but hopefully he impresses with a solid performance to his increase his value in the staffs eyes.

That seems about right. Think he's a backup plan and if one of Annan/Milan don't come here he'll get a committable offer.

David Ryslik, Peddie School (Hightstown, N.J.) defensive tackle and member of the NJ.com Top 50, saw his recruitment rise throughout the spring evaluation period, earning multiple offers as coaches stopped by his school to inquire about the 6-3, 280-pound senior.
However, his recruitment has quieted over the past couple months, though he put forth strong camp performances at both Rutgers and Penn State.
“I went up to Penn State after Rutgers and that’s about it for the camps,” Ryslik told NJ.com. “And I’ve just kind of been looking around, talking to people.”
Ryslik was one of the top performers at this summer's first installation of the Rutgers Big Man Academy, and says he did just as well at Penn State, thereafter.
“I did good (at PSU). They liked me a lot,” he said. “I thought I did, if not better, as well as I did at Rutgers. I thought I did pretty well. It was fun.”
However, the Nittany Lions have yet to extend an offer.
“The coaches are basically telling me to look out,” he said. “They are saying they are gonna sign another d-tackle and an offer could be coming real soon. I’m just doing what I have to do. If an offer comes, an offer comes. It would be very cool because I like them, a lot. And if it doesn’t, I’ve just got to move forward.”
Ryslik hasn’t been in contact with the Rutgers staff since the last time he set foot on campus, in June.
“To be honest, I haven’t talked to them since that camp,” he said. “I talked to them at the camp and all the coaches seemed really interested, but I never heard anything after that.”
Syracuse and Temple, two of the teams to offer Ryslik, have been recruiting him the hardest, while there are a handful of schools still playing the middle of the road.
“(Syra)cuse is still recruiting me pretty hard in terms of schools I have offers from.
Temple still comes hard,” he said. “Wake Forest, they said that if I get down there and visit that they’ll probably throw me an offer. Then the schools I’ve been talking to for a while like Maryland, Georgia Tech, Boston College, they are all schools that want me to come through before the season starts and they’ll probably throw me an offer after the season.
“I would have no problem going to all these places, but the thing is, it’s just hard to get there. I can’t just hop in a car and drive to North Carolina. Maryland, maybe that’s a different story because it’s just three hours, but still, it’s difficult. Most of the schools, they want me to get there, but the thing is, if I can’t get there, they just told me to wait until the season (to take official visits paid for by the schools).”
Ryslik, who holds offers from Duke, Temple, UConn, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Old Dominion and Monmouth, had hoped his recruitment would be winding down by now. However, he is still unsure of the direction he’d liked to go in.
“When it comes to the recruiting process, I wanted to make a decision before my season started, but I have no problem being patient. I’m not about to rush anything. I wanted it to be end of August, early September, but everything is still going. I thought that by this point I’d have everything summed up and everything would have stopped, but it’s all prolonging.”
However, the Syracuse Orange and Duke Blue Devils appear in the process of separating themselves from the pack.
“I look at everyone, to be honest. But I would say probably Syracuse sticks out a little bit more than everyone else, and maybe Duke a little bit, because it’s ACC, the big conference,” he said. “I like the big conference-type thing. I feel like if I play in a big conference like the Big Ten or ACC, the competition will be harder and make me better.”

It sounds like Toad is setting up a commit to Rutgirls. I thought I read some where on here that he was a back-up plan for us; or at least like the 5th or 6th DT on out board. After all of the losses that Rutgirls have had to us on the recruiting trail lately and the loss of Ali to Temple, I think Toad is trying to save a little face by saying that us and Temple are heavily recruiting him so when and if they get him it will look like they won out over us.

He very well could be an option for us. If we miss out on Milan and Robinson, which are very good possibilities then you would assume Ryslik would come into play. I can definitely see why we are still recruiting him hard. I actually prefer him to our current DT. He has college ready size, and has performed well against solid competition.

I believe I read somewhere that he hasn't heard from Rutgers even once since he camped there. Not a single time.

Thank you

Thought I'd bump this thread back up. I remember him as one of the Jersey guys from the summer. Does he have an offer and are we still in contact or did he commit elsewhere? Anybody know?

Talk about someone who didnt know his value. Had some decent early offers. Not sure if they are commitable now. Dont know whats going on but I know he probably would love a visit from SU at this point.

Don't think our staff is too big a fan of his(as a player). Still uncommitted and Money is dead on, he had some decent offers and let things drag out. Not sure where he will end up

Chose "Over" Cincy/Duke/SU... hard to do that when you were never offered.
True, but when you're UConn you have to do anything to justify keeping football as a viable program. It'll be fun watching them fade into Bolivia.
