Per TOS, as Shafer did the last few years, a Junior Day will be held on 4/2 to coincide with the Spring Game.

holding it early also helps get some of these kids here that might be going other places a few weeks later

wow, 20 kids visiting this weekend. Seems like a lot but I didn't follow recruiting that much in the past. I am assuming they will be bringing them to the game Saturday...hopefully they have a good time.

Others know much better than me, but I think that is common for a junior day. Junior days seem to be used to get massive amounts of kids, sometimes entire teams, on campus for a taste of the university. The coaches can gauge the interest of the recruit and build a relationship with recruits and coaches, as well as sell the university to a broad audience.

it's pretty common for most schools, just hasn't been at syracuse. we were lucky to have any junior days with shafer. And there's a noticeable difference in the quality of prospects visiting. there was a number of excuses backing shafer's methods but i was always an advocate of more junior days and more prospects. we'll see what happens.

They aren't callimg these Junior Days. Junior Day is 4/2. These are more high priority prospects like Cass Tech they wamt to brimg in for visits.

thanks for the responses...whether you want to call this a junior day or not (sounds like it technically isn't a junior day), we seem to be having a lot more and higher rated recruits visiting SU under Babers leadership compared to the recent past. Like I said, I am far from a recruiting expert but I am getting the sense that Baber and team are stepping up the recruiting game a bit. Actual recruiting results will be a long way away but so far I am excited. I feel that if we can show some solid improvement on the field next year we could really start some serious recruiting momentum.

Part of the reason, imo, that you are seeing so many kids visiting so early is for the simple fact that this is a new staff. They have a lot of ground to make up compared to the programs that have staffs that have been in place for a few years.

Good point.

NO... that is why there is a difference in the quality of visitors. Junior Days are usually where everybody and anybody is invited.

LOL, if you want to call it more high priority prospect day go ahead but it's a junior day.

What's nice about these 2 weekends is the kids get to see an exciting (hopefully) basketball game with a pumped up crowd. Both games should draw 26,000 +.

Now I agree with you because they have changed who they are bringing in... a lot of team mates of prospects.

Weather wise, it could not be any better. Bright sun and warm temperatures . The mood on campus should be electric.
