Bubble Watch: Syracuse's NCAA Tournament Odds Improve Thanks to Three Favorable Results (PS; Carlson)

The Syracuse men's basketball team continues to be considered in the NCAA Tournament by nearly every bracketologist for the moment. All but two of the 108 participants in The Bracket Matrix have Syracuse in the NCAA Tournament in, and the average positioning places the Orange as a No. 10 seed.

Most experts expect Syracuse can lock up a spot with a win in its regular-season finale against Florida State or in its first ACC Tournament game.

But just in case things go terribly wrong for the Orange, or the NCAA Tournament committee is thinking differently than most, here's your daily look at the NCAA Tournament bubble.

Of the four meaningful games played on Thursday night, three helped the Orange, making it even harder to envision the Orange getting squeezed from the NCAA Tournament.

Syracuse (19-11) entered Thursday night with an RPI of 52, as calculated by ESPN.

After Disappointing Loss, Pitt Looks to Regain Pep vs Georgia Tech (triblive.com; Harris)

Logic suggests that toppling No. 17 Duke should have provided Pitt renewed motivation and been the impetus to propel the Panthers through their final two regular-season games.

That seemed to be the case at times during Pitt's 65-61 loss at Virginia Tech on Wednesday, coach Jamie Dixon said.

Pitt built an early advantage and led by as many as nine points in the first half. However, the Panthers didn't maintain that pace and trailed by as many as 13 in the second half before staging a rally that fell short.

What sustained the Panthers early against the Hokies wasn't enough to secure a second consecutive victory during a time in the season when wins are necessary to impress the NCAA Tournament selection committee.

Stephen Bailey Named One of the Top 10 Beat Writers for Work Covering SU Football (PS)

Syracuse.com again has been named one of the top 10 sports news web sites in the country by the Associated Press Sports Editors.

It's the second straight year Syracuse.com has received the honor in the APSE's annual contest, run by the editors of sports news departments across the country.

Syracuse.com was rated one of the top 10 sites in the digital contest for papers with circulation between 75,000 and 175,000 for 2015.

In addition, football writer Stephen Bailey was named one of the top 10 beat writers in the same circulation category for his work covering the Syracuse football team.
