Assessment of SU OOC: Overall Harder Than Last Year (PS; Stevens)

There's more than one way to construct a nonconference schedule. The way that optimizes victories while gaming the RPI is to schedule a bunch of opponents likely to land between 75 and 175 in the RPI, avoiding dreadful teams at all costs and sprinkling some road games in.

Syracuse's method ... was not that, at least not in recent years. The Orange likes to have a handful of high-profile games (some through an exempt event), have no problems with facing bottom-of-the-barrel opposition and are especially fond of figuratively hanging a "Dome Sweet Dome" sign in November and December and not crossing state lines until league play commenced.

Question: when SU plays at Madison Square Garden is the team careful not to cross into New Jersey on the way? You know that blowback you get when you cross a state line, when you lose your legs for a day or two? I hope the team is careful not to drive down 81 into Pa. and then taking 80 into NYC, that would set the team back a week at least. Better to go straight down the Thruway and through the Bronx to Manhattan. I'm sure they have thought this through, but does anybody know for sure?
