Class of 2016 3 Star JUCO DT Raveon Hoston Has Interest in Syracuse (omaha.com; McKewon)

As Nebraska defensive coordinator Mark Banker looks hard at a graduate transfer defensive tackle from Utah, he's also doing background homework on a junior college defensive end out of Los Angeles who could help bolster the Huskers' pass rush.

Los Angeles Valley College's Raveon Hoston said last night on his Facebook page that he'd received an offer from Nebraska. Reached via text today, Hoston — a 2016 junior prospect, said NU started showing interest late last week. Banker is meeting with Hoston's academic counselor on Monday. He's still trying to get eligible for four-year schools. Hoston had 19 tackles, three sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss last season for Valley. He was in his second year at Valley. He graduated from Seattle Cleveland High School in 2013, and would have two years of eligibility left.

100 Acre Brush Fire in Kirkville Believed to Have Been Started by a Tractor (PS; O'Toole)

As Kirkville Volunteer Firefighter Jeff Bloss stood outside his North Kirkville Road home Friday evening, he saw smoke fill the sky.

"I got in my truck and drove (toward the fire)," he said.

Bloss and more than 100 other volunteer firefighters from about 40 departments throughout Central New York spent the next five hours battling a brush fire that spread over 100 acres in Kirkville.

A tractor appears to have accidentally sparked the brush fire, Kirkville Volunteer Fire Chief Kevin Bell said Monday night. He would not elaborate, except to say, "if anything overheats, it can set grass on fire if it's dry enough."

A Kirkville resident told WKTV News that his neighbor was using a tractor to mow grass when heat from the tractor's muffler set fire to the dry grass.

The weather Friday evening created perfect conditions for a brush fire: "It was warm and dry," Bell said.

Neighbors saw the smoke and called 911 at 7:15 p.m. Friday to report the fire in a large field, about 2,000 feet from Kirkville Road North, across from Titan Steel Corp., between Saintsville and North Poolsbrook roads. When firefighters arrived, the fire had already spread over two to three acres, Bell said.

Veteran OLB and seven-time Pro Bowler Dwight Freeney will work out for the Bengals this week, a league source said. That would be an intriguing signing. Freeney, 36, was a mid-season addition for the Cardinals last season and still led the team with eight sacks. Earlier this month, he told "SportsCenter" he wouldn't mind coming back to Arizona, but wanted to play for a winning team. The Bengals have 52 wins the past five years.
