Welcome to National Pink Day!

It's National Pink Day, a day where everything should be basking in pink splendor!

It's especially a day for the ladies, as pink is a girl's favorite color. Guys, you can participate inNational Pink Day, too. Just get in touch with your feminine side, and display a dash of pink. Note: the girls will love you for it!

It's easy to enjoy and to participate in National Pink Day. Bring your pink elephant out of hiding. Wear pink, and show off everything you have that's pink, from clothing and shoes to other possessions. Be creative. Use food coloring to make pink meals. Pink frosting on a cake or cookies will be a big hit today.

Syracuse Football Recruiting: 3-Star Florida WR Josh Palmer Commits to Orange (TNIAAM; Cassillo)

Another day, another wide receiver commitment for the Orange.

The Syracuse Orange have added yet another verbal commitment to the class of 2017. St Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) wide receiver Josh Palmer pledged to SU this evening, according to 247 Sports.

With recent Syracuse football camps around the country, and a bunch of visitors last weekend, it was expected that recruiting could pick up a bit, and so it has. Palmer makes for the third commit in the last four days, and the second wideout. Washington D.C.'s Nykeim Johnson announced his own decision yesterday.

While SU's other 2017 receivers, Nykeim Johnson and Sharod Johnson are both better suited for the slot, Palmer is a sure-fire X-receiver at 6-foot-3 and 195 pounds. He's rated three stars, and is one of the top 100 or so players in the state of Florida, as well as one of the top 100ish receivers nationally, according to 247. Scout has him ranked in the top 80 among all wide receivers.

Palmer visited Syracuse, along with Pittsburgh and Maryland in the last couple weeks. He went with the Orange over offers from those two programs, as well as Purdue, Louisville, Nebraska, NC State, Illinois, Wake Forest and more.

Zack Mahoney — Meet the 2016 Syracuse Football team (the juice; Cheng)

Syracuse quarterback Zack Mahoney was mostly looked at as an afterthought at this time last year.

It was hard to blame anyone for thinking of Mahoney that way. After all, he was a walk-on, buried on the depth chart behind incumbent starter Terrel Hunt, and scholarship backups Eric Dungey and Austin Wilson.

But when Syracuse lost Hunt for the season in its opening game against Rhode Island, and Dungey was sidelined with an injury against Central Michigan two games later, then-head coach Scott Shafer decided to play Mahoney in overtime against Central Michigan.

Mahoney rewarded Shafer’s faith with a perfect 4-for-4 performance and a key 12 yard scramble in a 30-27 win at the Carrier Dome.

Mahoney would go on to start against powerhouses LSU and Clemson, and also closed out the season with starts against NC State and Boston College.

This year, Syracuse head coach Dino Babers has opened up competition for the quarterback spot, declining to name a starter.

“It gets everyone a little more juice because everyone wants to be that guy,” Mahoney said during spring practice. “We all want to compete.”

Syracuse Football: Orange 10th in SB Nation's ACC Power Rankings (TNIAAM; Cassillo)

There's reason for optimism here. That's good!

You've likely been following along with Bill Connelly's daily ACC team previews on SB Nation (if not, what have you been doing with your life?). Yesterday wrapped with Clemson, so today gives us Bill's full power rankings for the conference, separated out into tiers.

The Syracuse Orange finished 10th overall, and fifth in the Atlantic Division. They were slotted into Bill's "third tier," just behind NC State and just ahead of Duke.

As you'll remember, Bill was optimistic about SU's ability to improve greatly this fall:

"Weighting returning production where it seems to matter the most, Syracuse returns more of last year's production than anyone in the country not named LSU or UCF (so basically, anyone above the 31st parallel). The receiving corps and secondary are wonderfully experienced, and the quarterback has upside.

Because the likely improvement is pretty extreme with this level of returning talent, Syracuse is projected to immediately become a top-50 team under Babers."

Before Dave Matthews Band concert, Lakeview Amphitheater relaxes 'no tailgating' policy (PS; Tulloch)

It's exactly what partying concertgoers hoped for tonight. A warm evening with a cool breeze, no dust clouds in the parking lot and no massive crackdowns on tailgating.

Before Dave Matthews Band takes the stage at Lakeview Amphitheater, thousands of fans descended upon the parking lots with plans to party.

By 5 p.m., hundreds had already set up chairs and tables. A few people started energetic games of beer pong. Some people sat in their truck beds. Others played corn hole, football or ring toss.

Plenty of people walked around with open containers.

The yellow-shirted Westcott Security team helped direct traffic and point people toward portable bathrooms, but didn't keep anyone from walking around with their drinks. A few cars blasted music.

Tonight's sold-out concert has been the "moment of truth" for how strongly the new venue's policies would be enforced. As Deputy County Executive Bill Fisherpredicted, strict enforcement of the amphitheater's "no tailgating" policy would prove nearly impossible.
