Nouveau-Beaujolais-Day.jpg

Welcome to Nouveau Beaujolais Day!

Beaujolais nouveau (French pronunciation: [bo.ʒɔ.lɛ nu.vo]) is a red wine made from Gamay grapes produced in the Beaujolais region of France. It is the most popular vin de primeur, fermented for just a few weeks before being released for sale on the third Thursday of November. This "Beaujolais Nouveau Day" used to see heavy marketing, with races to get the first bottles to different markets around the globe.[1] The current release practice is to ship the wine ahead of the third Thursday of November, and release it to the local markets at 12:01 a.m. local time.

Syracuse Football: Eric Dungey health update heading into Louisville (itlh.com; Esden Jr)

For the third straight season, the Syracuse football team won’t have its’ star quarterback Eric Dungey from start to finish. ITLH breaks it down.

There was some rumors at the start of last week that maybe Syracuse football star quarterback Eric Dungey wouldn’t be able to suit up. But come on this is Dungey, he literally plays through anything and everything.

But as we got closer to gameday the only thing keeping SU fans alive was hopes and prayers. As we discovered on Saturday, Dungey would not suit up and miss a game for the third straight season. Hopefully in this case we can see Dungey back on the field before everything is said and done.

Speaking of that head coach Dino Babers was asked about that during his weekly press conference with the media:

“First off, if Dungey can go, I expect him to go. Why wouldn’t he be able to go? As long as he can defend himself. Zack Mahoney obviously had a great first half and overall not so much a good second half, but I think we’ll be okay if we have to go with the other guy.”

Louisville vs. Syracuse Fearless Prediction & Game Preview (collegefootballnews.com; Fiutak)

Syracuse is huge part of the College Football Playoff picture, but for a bad reason.

It managed to beat Clemson, but if it manages to lose either one of its last two games against Louisville or Boston College, it’ll also be out of the bowl picture.

In the College Football Playoff era, only 2015 Michigan State’s loss to Nebraska – who finished 6-7 after getting a break to go bowling – would be close to as bad as Clemson’s loss in the Carrier Dome.

Coming off a 64-43 firefight loss to Wake Forest, the Orange have lost three straight since the big win over the Tigers.

Louisville also lost in a shootout with Wake Forest, but it managed to get by Virginia last week to become bowl eligible. Now it’s fun time, with the regular season finale at home against the Orange, and then the showdown against Kentucky for in-state supremacy.

One Reason Why Syracuse Will Win
It might not seem right considering all the problems the defense had against the Demon Deacons last week, and considering all the problems giving up big pass plays, but Syracuse is shockingly fantastic on third downs.

Examining The Optimistic and Pessimistic Outlooks on Syracuse Football – Orange Fizz – Free Syracuse Recruiting News (orangefizz.net; Grossman)

A Syracuse win against Louisville on Saturday puts the Orange in position to qualify for a bowl game with a home win over Boston College on Senior Day. A loss, and those bowl dreams fade to black. But, this game is about more than keeping the chance of a .500 record alive. This game is about optics and attitude.

There are two clear factions in the Syracuse Football fan base. The question remains which faction will be louder at the season’s end. The remaining two games will very likely determine that. Let’s examine the two sides to the Syracuse football coin.

Yes, of course things have changed.

Fans who hold this view will, likely, point early and often to the 27-24 home win over the number two Clemson Tigers.Syracuse beat the defending National Champions. What more evidence could one possibly need? Syracuse followed that win up by going blow-for-blow with both Miami and Florida State… ON THE ROAD. Despite the hiccup against Middle Tennessee State and the disaster against Wake Forest, Babers has this defense trending in the right direction. (Here these fans will likely point to holding Clemson to 24 points). The Orange did not have any games this year that were over before halftime because the defense couldn’t get a stop. With Eric Dungey at the helm, this Syracuse team is prepared to compete with the best next season and Babers is the right man to lead this program forward.

Seniors Chucky Williams, Thomas Want to Finish Strong (gocards.com; Green)

Seniors Chucky Williams and Stacy Thomas know their careers with the University of Louisville football program are coming to a close.

The duo, part of Louisville's senior class, play their final game in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium on Saturday against Syracuse at 3:30 p.m. The group has combined for a 32-17 record and became bowl-eligible for the fourth-consecutive season.

Thomas, over the last two seasons, has been a pivotal piece to that success. The Miami, Fla., native has gradually excelled into one of the defense's crucial components. He totaled 85 tackles a year ago and boasts 43 stops through seven games this year. He missed a string of two key games – Boston College and Florida State – with an injury, but has totaled 16 tackles, 3.5 for loss since his return.

Not only has Thomas' production on the field been an incredible lift for the defense, but his work ethic has been a spark for the unit as well.

"He's a very intelligent football player and recognizes routes," Petrino said. "It was great to see him back at practice at full speed because I think that everybody else recognized that and gave us a lot of energy."

Williams, the team's leading tackler, echoed Petrino's sentiments on Thomas, saying "It did bring our confidence up even higher."

http://www.courier-journal.com/stor...-game-sun-pinstripe-taxslayer-belk/837520001/ (courier-journal.com; Lourim)

With two weeks left in the regular season, the Louisville football team (6-4) is sitting in the middle of a muddled ACC.

It’s anyone’s guess, then, where the Cardinals will end their season in a bowl game.

For now, Louisville is almost certainly headed for a mid-tier bowl. Options are the Belk in Charlotte, N.C., the Pinstripe in New York City, the Sun in El Paso, Texas, the TaxSlayer in Jacksonville, Fla., or the Music City in Nashville, Tenn. Either the TaxSlayer or the Music City will take an ACC team.

Much of the selection process goes on behind closed doors, but here’s some insight from two bowl reps last week. Each bowl in the four-game pool will rank its top four team choices and submit them to the ACC, which will work with the bowls to create the best matchups and destinations. Last year, each of the four bowls received its top choice. If two or more bowls want the same team, they negotiate to try to find desirable matchups.

Syracuse Football HC Dino Babers doesn’t believe in momentum (itlh.com; Esden Jr)

There’s been interesting swings of momentum for the Syracuse football team this year. Although if you ask HC Dino Babers, he has a different perspective.
This Syracuse football season has included a few streaks including: two game losing streak on the road, two game winning streak at home, and a three game losing streak currently.

Despite those apparent waves of momentum, head coach Dino Babers doesn’t seem to be a believer.

In his weekly press conference with the media, head coach Dino Babers explained his opinion on momentum in college football and how it pertains to his team:

“So much of sports is treating each week, like an individual week. The Clemson week was a high week and the weeks after that haven’t been so high. I think when everyone was saying what bowl are you going to go to, you have to take it one week at a time, I said that then, I say it now. Now here we’re in November and we’ve got to take them one at a time. So I think the momentum is created every single week and we have to create our own momentum for Louisville.”

Hazardous weather alerts issued in Upstate NY for weekend lake effect snow (PS; Coin)

The National Weather Service has issued hazardous weather outlooks for potential lake effect snow this weekend in Upstate New York.

The weather service is also hinting at another cold front next week that could bring snow just before or on Thanksgiving Day.

The alerts for this weekend say that a cold front with strong winds will move across Upstate Saturday night into Sunday, first bringing rain and possibly some lake effect snow.

"After a strong cold front blasts through with gusty winds late Saturday night, much colder air will overspread the region Sunday," the weather service said in its alert for Central New York. "This will set the stage for lake effect snow east and southeast of Lake Ontario Sunday into Monday. It remains too early for any specifics on snowfall amounts or exact locations."

In Central New York, snow could fall through the day Sunday and into Monday, especially north of the Thruway, the weather service said. Lake effect snow bands could shift during the day, so it's hard to know where snow will fall. Snow during the day Sunday will likely be limited by temperatures, but colder air Sunday night could lead to more accumulation, the weather service said.
