Class of 2018 Griffin Gelinas (CT), Attack, Flipped to Michigan

Griffin Gelinas, Attack, Brunswick (Conn.)/Prime Time – Syracuse Gelinas has improved since we saw him last year for the first time, each time looking a little more sure of what he’s doing when dodging. Early on, Gelinas showed he’s explosive enough to blow past a lot of defenders in his class. Now, he’s starting to take the next step and get into better shooting position (sprinting to better angles) and he’s shooting the ball with more accuracy and in different ways, not just his jump shot, which is effective in its own right. He’s also starting to see what his dodges can do to open up the defense for his teammates. He really turned some heads during the fast shot contest – whipping the ball 95 miles per hour. That shot speed and quick legs are helping him become more and more of a threat on the field. When he gets momentum off his initial burst, watch out. In the All-Star game, Gelinas scored twice.

I like that !!! Jordan Wolf like
Like this comparison a lot. He's a quick dodger from X, that has a rocket of a shot. Might be a little better of a feeder.

Prime Time defeated NH Tomahawks 11-6 to win the 2018 division at Session II of the Inside Lacrosse Recruiting Invitational.

Initially jumping out to a lead, Prime Time then weathered a first-half comeback from the Tomahawks and went into halftime leading 4-3. The third quarter proved to be crucial for Prime Time, which went on a 5-1 run in the period that the Tomahawks could not recover from.

The win culminated a dominant run for the PrimeTime 2018 players, who went 7-0 in the tournament and outscored their opponents 76-21.

Prime Time was paced by the play of Griffin Gelinas, Matt Magnan, and Shahe Katchedurian - all Syracuse commits. Gelinas and Magnan both scored four goals while Katchadurian made nine saves in the first half. Matthew Baugher, Alston Tarry, and Thomas Marra also scored a goal each. Gelinas was named the game's most valuable player, and finished the tournament tied for most goals with 16.

IL Recruiting Invitational, Session II: Prime Time Wins 2018 Division

Tough loss, SU has lost a couple of higher end guys the last few years with decommits which used to be unheard of for them. Still, if you like at the 2018 recruiting class its clear to see why it's not a total surprise. The class is laded with offensive talent especially attackmen. Was inevitable someone wasn't going to make it.

Think it is averages 1 degree warmer in Michigan than Cuse during winter, might that have factored? Nah, problably just wanted to watch better football and get on lax field sooner

I hate this new trend of poaching!
I dont. Rather have switches happen now than later so spots are not tied up in futures who may be uncertain of their early choice of school or passage of lax career. The larger culprit is the trend to early committs. Wish the NCAA would enact some some laws and make the start of junior year the earliest. Think it would benefit all and lead to better matches .Coaches would have a truer gauge on many and kids would also be making more informed choices

Well said yeah I just hate losing good players! Owen Seebold should fit that role anyway!

FWIW Griffin is not currently found on the 2019 Michigan roster. He was at some point, but the #34 he had hasn't been taken by anyone else. Just an error? Let's see come spring. He's on Twitter retweeting, but II don't have a Twitter to ask.

They just put up the Michigan's roster a couple weeks ago too, and I recall seeing Gelinas on it, as you say.

It is fairly typical at UMd. for a 1 or 2 of the incoming freshmen to drop off the roster between fall and spring. Usually they are gone for good. What is typical at UMich, who knows?

Michigan also has an empty spot at #24.
