I suspect many season ticket holders will let their feelings be known if they're asked to pay the same $ for fewer games. TGD will have to lower season ticket prices as well as preferred seating fees.

I plan on moving to preferred seating and getting another ticket. This move will be postponed a year (or more) if the total cost/game is out of whack.

You are right. They are left with a real mess. The easiest thing for them to do is what the SEC, the Big 12 and now the BE are doing....replace the defecting school with a new school. If they can't do that, they are faced with either completely redoing their conference schedule or deciding to just play 7 conference games in 2012, leaving each school to fill its 12th game as best it can.

I bet they get some school desperate to get into the MAC to join in 2012, leaving the hole in the conference problem for some other, even more lowly conference to deal with. Maybe Stonybrook?

SU keeps sayng they haven't raised season ticket prices. Yet, in the past eight years my preferred seats have gone from $250 per year to $770 (2 for $1540 vs. $500). During this time I believe we've won 3 Big East home games. They better be very careful who they fill our two home games with because the people sitting in my area are pretty fed up with the peformance on the field. Many have already decided to not renew again.

Wow, just wow at that price. I wouldn't even pay that for season tickets to one of the top tier schools.

You can get season tickets for anywhere from $99 to $240.

Just don't expect to sit in the Premium seats on the 50 yard line.

Yeah, I just figured that our preferred seating is probably in the ball park of some other school's upper end season tickets. Bad clarification on my part.

I understand the consternation at the rate of increase, but SU's preferred seating is a total steal compared to just about every other BCS program (including the crappy one's).

My uncle has preferred seats at Oregon State and it's insane what he has to fork over to keep them.

So we replace WVU and TCU with Temple and UB? Pitiful. With a scheduel that weak SU better win 8 games or Marrone's gone! You don't get to keep the same expectations when you crap down the schedule. Granted, not SU's fault really but that schedule is embarrassing.

We're playing 2 B1G schools and the #1 team in the country. Not as bad of a schedule as you are making it out to be.

I do not understand why people get so worked up over this. It's a one year blip, and our future starting in 2013 is ACC + Notre Dame for the next four years or so. While I don't want them to play 2 1AA's, I wouldn't complain about it if that is all that can be cobbled together.

I could really care less who they play outside of the conference. Really. The only goals for this year, it being what it is, should be: (1) get to a bowl game, period; (2) win the conference. Even if we win the conference, SOS won't matter for jack, so take the "unlucky" BCS game that has to pick us, and move on. Complaining at this point strikes me as complaining for complaining's sake.

exactly, we have a decent non con, homes games or not. When you play USC I dont care who else we play. Making a BOWL GAME and getting momo heading into the ACC next year is the best case scenario and the only one that matters to me. We do need 6 legit home games, as a diehard tailgator I need 6 not 5..... if my math skills are correct that is 2 less home games then last year and that will kill my buzz.

Yeah, we were supposed to have 8 conference games, 2 B1G schools and USC. Probably would have worked in a 1AA, which is normal for most schools. Schedule was set. Then everything changed. You just can't find quality opponents in that short of time, unless you want to play all road games. In a weird way, Gross's best move (the ACC) combined with a short term backfire on USC being in NYC (very short term, no one will care after 2012).

Come 2013, we have 9 ACC conf games, a game with Penn State, and then a future series with ND. The appeal of our schedule will probably never be an issue again so everyone enjoy it while you can for 2012.

While that's certainly true, SU probably didn't do themselves any favors with their pricing strategies. They are going to have to keep selling the fact that it's the cheapest place to get a good seat to 1A football (no matter how much big time appeal is lacking). Because they created such a large price variance between the cheap seats and the good seats in a stadium where there are really no bad seats. And now we're a stadium that looks ridiculous on TV because no one is on the sidelines but the end zones are packed. For $99 per year, why not?

Future ACC schedules have to help. At the end of the day once it's fixed, call it a cost of doing business for being stuck in the Big East from 2004 to 2012.

Yeah just one game at Michigan is $85 for a seat. Just regular end zone season tickets are $480 minimum...I am so glad I grew up an SU fan. I couldn't find their preferred seating prices, but I am guessing it is an astronomical amount for good seats.

I am a little bummed our schedule is going to be lackluster, but I'll look at the bright side. We have a reasonable shot at eight wins and a conference title, which could pay off huge dividends when it comes to recruiting.

Correct, none of the MAC teams would be available for another game as the MAC would go back to the way they scheduled before adding UMass (which had 13 teams): The division with 7 teams plays the rest of their division and 2 from the other division. The division with 6 teams plays the rest of their division and 3 from the other. To add UMass they moved Bowling Green to the West division, so would they move them back to East (i.e. essentially going back to what it was and just trading UMass for Temple) or keep them in the West?

The MAC has not released dates for their conference games, so they can still move things around without impacting the fans as much.

Why should we be so adamant about leveraging 2 for 1 with a team? When we move to the ACC, we'll only have 3 non conference games. When we had to look for 5 games a year, I understand guaranteeing multiple home dates for the future. But with limited opportunities from here on out, we should be looking to play more different teams to expose our brand to new markets and keep the fans interested. Do we really need/want to play Eastern Michigan 3 times? There's a difference between playing USC and Notre Dame in consecutive years and playing EMU in a 3 game series...unless we're just looking an excuse to hang out with Rob Murphy

After next year, I hope SU never plays schools like Akron or Eastern Michigan.

There really are only 2 OOC games in play excluding the Meadowlands.

Even if such schools play exclusively at SU, not sure what purpose is served. And hard to imagine great recruits being impressed by a one time game at these type of schools. Play a game of interest to fans and if a punching bag is needed, try to get a regional one.

After next year our OOC will consist of 1 FCS, 1 non-BCS, and 1 BCS

We are going to be in an unevern schedule with the ACC 5/4

We need extra home games (vs MAC level schools) to plug into the schedule when we have 4 ACC home games. With the Met Life series and uneven ACC schedules it becomes more problematic to get at least 6 home games every year at the Carrier Dome.
