-Great rivalry
- helps recruiting
- locks up more of the east coast
- their basketball

What's not to like?

Yay - great idea! Let's throw them a lifeline, and at the same time hurt our recruiting in all sports. Not quite sure how you think it helps our recruiting.

Sorry - not with you on this one. At all. I am perfectly fine with their current situation - twisting in the wind.

Would hurt recruiting.
There are 35 million people in New York/New England plus Eastern Canada . Seens like it should be able to produce enough top athletes to run 3 P5 programs .

Glad you posted this first so all the vitriol will come your way, but agree completely. Add in another easy to get to roadie with excellent tailgating. We drove in Thursday night, spent all day Friday in Mystic and headed home this morning. Not a casino guy but you have that right down the road too.
Actually enjoyed talking with UConn fans yesterday. Met Coach Mac's great nephew who told me how Mac called Randy Edsall on his behalf to help him get into Storrs. Talked to another group on the way out about conference realignment. They were hopeful for a Big 12 invite but clearly their hearts were with us in the ACC. Frankly, if it weren't for visits to the North End I would trade BC for Uconn in a heartbeat. Yes, their hoops fans are annoying but whose aren't?

But it doesn't. Why is a whole other thread but the reality is that population number has always been that high, or higher and the area still doesn't produce very many highly rated recruits. So it would not help recruiting at all. If anything we are in a better position being the school that's in a real conference while Ucan't is not.

They could always schedule an OOC series with them and get the same result without watering down the conference.

I believe the reason for that is because Eastern football has always lacked a conference . Eastern football was strong when SU , PSU and Army dominated , but then the sothern and western conferences became stronger as a collective and no real eastern conference ever formed .

My opinion is that if Uconn gets into a P5 conference, the acc is where I want them - especially if paired with ND.

If they can survive until 2024, I think the Big 12 dies...and when that happens I think the other 4 conferences go to 16.

If the ACC needs to add 4 teams, I'd love to see it be ND, Uconn, Texas & Kansas. A nice balance of both sports.

The Texas / Kansas thing might be a stretch, if so we might end up with WVU and maybe cincy.

I honestly think that never happens. In the end, there will be 5 conferences of 16 teams and an 8 team playoff in football.

We have the tradition and soon a much better stadium...no reason to fear UConn. ACC is strong enough to bring them in. Adding Yukon would help capture the tristate for the ACC. We had a minimum of 2000 fans there and that is coming off two blowouts. We need a hated lil brother near by.

Not to sound like an @ss but that's not even one of the top reasons. One of the biggest reasons is that HS football isn't the religion that it is in other parts of the country, for many reasons. One of those being, as an example, in NYS players are only allowed to play/practice football a certain amount of time/games per year. Players in the east are more restricted from playing football year round competitively compared to other parts of the country.

Eastern basketball was in the sane mortified state until the BigEast was formed . It was all ACC , Big10 , Pac10 . You do remember that , don't you .

The difference between basketball culture in the northeast centered by NYC and football culture in the northeast is Gi-Gan-Tic.

Every school stills plays football . They need to switch to Texas style football like our man Dino plays . It would be a revolution .

But there was always northeastern talent in basketball. There isn't nearly as much for football, and I can't think of why anyone would want another viable football mouth to feed in our region. There isn't enough to go around now.

That is entirely true. HS football, and even Pee Wee/Pop Warner, is HUGE down here. Quite likely more important to the culture than attending church on Sundays. Seriously, no joke.

There are a lot of quality players who go outside the region because they perceive the NE teams as not really in play . There are also a lot of players on CAA teams who could play at the P% level .

Wouldn't mind Uconn in the ACC. I'm not worried about woo'ing recruits over them or what not. I just care about watching good football and basketball and having fun rivalries.

I would be some big recruiting foe , which if we beat them every year the stronger team usually gets the best recruits anyways , then why did Penn St want Rutgers in the B1G ? I guess people here are afraid of UCONN .
