Landon Donovan to retire

at the end of this season. I imagine he thinks he will go into TV commentating. Personally, I think he will need some serious media training. I find him a bit whiney behind the microphone.

That said, he was a great player for the US national team and for the LA Galaxy. His winning goal in the all-star game against Bayern was a thing of beauty and he did a lot for the sport.

GAOAT. The poise and technique last night was sorely missed in Brazil.

I think he'll go more into youth/player development/coaching than broadcasting. He doesn't exude the energy for the booth, though his honesty is refreshing.
