I think the kids see the Georgia State type-shot and think it looks like a fun way to finish a game...

Take them to the hole - if you miss you have a kid that's 19'3" under the rim for the rebound. Always go to the hole - at the end of games everyone overreacts and tries to block the shot leaving the boards wide open.
