I like thread view because I can see who participates in a thread without having to click anything. This is important to me because there are lots of posters who suck. They don't bother me when I just skip over them. But now I'm going thread by thread - click on the topic, see that there's morons pissing on each other, go back. Rinse repeat.
Is there any way to come up with a list of who is in a thread and include it in the index page so we might be able to guess which topics to skip? Right now we only know who starts and finishes threads.
The assumption now is that people care about the topic. I really don't, I care who's posting. Good posters will make for good topics regardless of what the title is.
This could be a decent compromise between the "omg thread view is so 1998 you losers" crowd and me
