Look for DT, Jalen Harvey to transfer

Next man up, sure, but on the interior DL that is not always easily done. Every loss there gets us closer to keeping Thompson or Johnson inside next year, which plain sucks.

I love the 'next man up' stuff -- everyone realizes that the more you say 'next man up' the worse your season is getting right? I mean, fine, if coaches want to print it on t-shirts and rant and rave about 'no excuses', fine -- it's football. We get it. But realistically, most of the time you're digging down the depth chart you're finding a player's who's not as good or at least isn't ready for the role. Simply put, a lot of 'next man up' is a terrible thing for ole' win/loss record.

yea it does, if it was a warmer climate etc. Let's be honest Syracuse isn't a destination and while kids can have an unreal time on their official visit (which they should) once they are here for a semester etc might not be place they thought was. Yes this could be homesickness but u can't say the city doesn't have some sort of effect on a few kids that leave.
A few kids leave every single school there is. Even places like UCLA and Miami. So your statement about Syracuse is just ignorant. The overwhelming majority of kid that come here stay and thour

That is simply an ignorant comment. I guess kids never get homesick or leave schools in warmer climates. Your logic makes no sense. If it were true we would have kids transferring at greater rates than other schools and that just doesn't happen. Infact very few kids transfer from syracuse at all. Most that do transfer aren going to play here or they graduate within 4 years and use their last year of eligibility to play at a smaller school.

I said they can get homesick I know happens everywhere, however Syracuse is prob one of worst P5 destinations there is, listen I live in Cuse and by my handle love this program just be realistic

Unless we're talking Stanford, Miami, Pepperdine and the like, every school is about the same. I spent 4 years at SU. I live within close proximity of Rutgers New Brunswick and Princeton Campuses and am on both regularly. Its all the same . You think New Brunswick is better than Syracuse? Princeton better than Syracuse? Most of these kids are broke (i know i was as a student), you think theyre at Art exibits, shows, enjoying culture? Gimmie a break.

Give me other destinations you feel are up there with Syracuse for I am curious to see what you are thinking...

Most of the kids at Princeton are not broke.

the gist of my messages are climate, this is a bad climate. Virgina, nc st etc r better places mostly because of climate. I love the university jus saying easier to recruit at a Virginia then a Syracuse.

If I was a football player - I'd prefer northern summers for camp than south.

The paper said he was looking for a better acaemic fit ... maybe grades were an issue?

So many kids today are gaming or otherwise spending time anywhere but outside. As long as they have a hella amount kf broadband they are fine. In this way Syracuse isn't much different from anywhere else.

Huh? So a city within an hour or two of the Adirondacks, the Finger Lakes, some of the worlds' best salmon runs, skiing, hunting, numerous lakes, casinos, golf courses, a vibrant on campus scene (the party school designation which some hate and others love), surrounded by numerous colleges, within an hour's flight from New York City, Philly, Washington DC and an hour and 15 minutes to Boston etc, all while playing in the largest on campus facility in the country. It's cold and/or snowy in Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Kansas, Colorado etc - all P5 destinations. Summers/fall in Syracuse or summers/fall in South Carolina,Georgia, Texas etc?

Guess football players who want to play in the NFL would refuse to play in New York City area, Kansas City, Green Bay, New England, Buffalo, Philly, Minnesota, Detroit etc. Why do you think football players are wimps? Even Lebron moved from Miami back to Cleveland and Melo in NYC. :)

Well said Cherie...and this coming from a person that drives to Oswego for work...right? ;-)

My wife I like it so much here, we recently closed on a Lake Ontario beach house. Plan on having a blow out New Year's party there in a few weeks.

So if he's heading to a JUCO...might he have grade problems?

Not necessarily. Maybe he doesn't have another scholarship lined up yet, so it's cheaper to go this route.

I'm sure the south Alabamas of the world would take him. Sounds like grades to me

I bet climate has absolutely nothing to do with his transfer. Kids don't transfer from syracuse because of weather. Can you name one kid that left because it gets cold here?

I transferred to DC because of the snow. If that counts.

It's really personal preference. You think the climate sucks. I grew up in Nova and lived in Charlotte for 2 years after SU. I really liked the long spring down south, but the rest of the year, I preferred CNY. I love the fall, the summers and the snow. Winters in the south are the weather equivalent of diarrhea, imo.

If grades are his problem hopefully he'll figure it out and get his academics in order. Good luck Mr. Harvey.
