Class of 2017 New Commit: Lucas Quinn (NY:Nisky) Mid

After a wildly entertaining season, the spring of 2015 is well in the books and the Top 25 high school rankings are completed. Pennsylvania’s Haverford School, who started the season in the No. 2 spot, finished undefeated and will take the inaugural Recruiting Rundown high school championship. Take a look at the 24 other teams’ résumés below.

9. Niskayuna (N.Y.), 21-2

In Review: The Silver Warriors were another program to begin the spring without much fanfare, becoming more and more formidable as time moved forward. Though Nisky was relatively untested locally, they won 15 straight down the stretch including a massive upset over Long Island champ Syosset in the state semifinals. The first midfield of seniors Aidan O’Brien (UNC) and John Prendergast (Duke) and sophomore Lucas Quinn (Syracuse) combined for 12 goals in a 13-10 decision over West Genesee to provide the program with its first ever championship.
’16 Outlook: Niskayuna will have plenty of holes after graduating a senior class that had perennially experienced the New York state playoffs. Quinn and rising senior face-off middie Dylan Pantalone (Siena) will be counted on greatly, as the Silver Warriors will need younger players to step up.

These ranking are always misleading. It is nice to see Victor and Nisky in the top 10 as public schools (w/Darien). Why they include a PG school (Hun School) is beyond me. Apples to oranges.

The Under Armour Underclass tournament kicked off on Friday afternoon, pitting 10 regions against each other and showcasing the very best talent that the United States has to offer. DC, Upstate, LI and West all started 2-0, while South and Philadelphia both stand 1-1. Baltimore, New England, New Jersey and Midwest all sit at 0-2 after the first day.

Take a look below for results as look as well as a look at eight players that impressed on Day 1:

Lucas Quinn ’17, M, Upstate / Niskayuna (N.Y.)

The Syracuse commit is among the top offensive players in the 2017 class and on Friday, he showed why. After thriving for the state champion Silver Warriors this spring, Quinn has upped his game considerably, adding burst, polishing his shot and starting to make marquee plays on the defensive end. In the game that I watched, he buried two goals in the half, showing range and power from the outside. Looking forward to watching Quinn’s game climb going forward.

Upstate New York

The Upstaters finished 2-0, beating Baltimore 11-9 and New England 14-9. The team’s offense was a highlight. Samuel Duggan (2016/Skaneateles/Cornell) and Lucas Quinn (Niskayuna) were both smooth down low, and were able to attack the cage effectively. Austin Staats (2016/Assumption), played lefty attack; he was impressive both physically and in his skillset. Also liked Jared Conners (Pittsford/Virginia), a 2016 LSM who won balls off the wing and helped with possession.

Lucas Quinn snags invite to Nike lacrosse camp

NISKAYUNA — A whirlwind of a couple months is set to take another dizzying turn for Lucas Quinn, a rising junior at Niskayuna High School.

In early June, Quinn helped lead the Silver Warriors boys’ lacrosse team to its first state championship.

A couple weeks back, he played for the Upstate New York team in the Under Armour Underclass Lacrosse Tournament in Maryland, helping that team to its most-ever wins in a single session of the tournament.

Now, the midfielder is set to head to Oregon to compete at The Ride, a Nike-sponsored lacrosse camp bringing together 50 of the country’s top underclassmen.

“This is going to be the farthest I’ve ever been west,” said Quinn, who will be in Oregon from July 21-24.

Lucas Quinn, Midfield, Niskayuna (N.Y.)/Albany Power and SweetLax - Syracuse Quinn is a nasty right-handed midfielder who looked more than comfortable dodging and shooting among an incredibly talented group of players. He has excellent balance, with a lower center of gravity, and good strength so that he can just move down the lane with pressure on him. And he’s smooth and confident with his stick, able to unload a great looking shot on the run or with set feet. He sees the field well too. He scored twice in The Ride finale, including an eye-popping sidearm sling from way outside to find the top-right corner. He might have been one of the better overall midfielders at the event.

In the Boys 2016-2017 Silver Division, it was another FCA and SweetLax matchup. SweetLax’s 2017 National team got the best of the FCA Super Sophomore Squad with a 6-3 win. Lucas Quinn, a rising junior midfielder from Niskayuna, N.Y., who is committed to Syracuse, scored two goals in the victory.

Quinn after the game said he took pride in playing alongside some of the best players from Upstate New York and beyond on the SweetLax squad.

“It’s awesome,” Quinn said of the experience. “A lot of the Rochester guys I know from the past summers. Now there’s a couple Long Island guys and couple Syracuse guys. It’s a great mix. Just a bunch of good dudes.”

After two years of extensive evaluations, I’m pleased to announce the inaugural group of Recruiting Rundown five-star prospects in the class of 2017. These 23 players have stood out from the rest of the pack as North America’s most talented and proven recruits, names that we’ll all want to track as they get closer to playing at the Division I level...

Lucas Quinn, M, Niskayuna (N.Y.)
Club affiliations
: SweetLax, Albany Power
Commitment: Syracuse
As a sophomore, Quinn pumped in 43 goals and 34 assists to push the Silver Warriors to the program’s first ever New York state title. An electrifying dodger who is a marked man despite being just 5’8 and 150 pounds, he has an absurdly quick release and accurate shot with his feet moving. There are very few players as impressive overall, which is why some top programs likely won’t stop pursuing him despite his long-standing commitment to the Orange.
