Sam English should really help the SU offense from a dodging and passing standpoint. He seems to fit in exactly with what SU likes to do, and perhaps best of all, the transition time for him to learn the offense will be pretty minimal given his past experience with Pat March. It's pretty easy to see him running two man games with Finn Thomson, much the way that Alex Simmons did this past year. I'm guessing he draws the pole on the first line.
He did go from averaging 3 points per game to 2.2 this past year before getting injured. He definitely had a difficult time finding his accuracy (went from a 35% shooting percentage to 19%). Hopefully that gets figured out, but PU offense in general seemed to struggle early in the year. Would have been great to see how he performed the second half of the year when the Tigers seemed to figure things out. That said, his passing game was still strong last year as he went from averaging 1.2 assists in 2022 to 1.4 last year.
The only big question is his health, as he injured his spleen against Syracuse on the first play of the game and spent time overnight in the hospital. I'm not sure how long it takes to recover from that sort of injury. Fingers crossed he can be back in time for fall ball.
